It is time — time for a new favorite productivity app.
If you’ve been here for a while you know that I do change my productivity apps once in a while, but I’m usually pretty faithful to a few solid choices. For instance, I’ve been using Notion since 2019, it’s what I use to organize all of my ideas and notes, both personal or business related and I do still swear by it.
However, my task management system has always fluctuated throughout the years — I never truly felt like I found something incredible to manage tasks and subtasks. Calendar blocking in Google Calendar is the closest I ever got to perfection, despite its shortcomings (more about that in this video).
But now — I think I finally found a winner.

I feel like the productivity space has become a parody of itself. There is always a new "productivity system" or something new to optimize, because the ones from last week weren't perfect after all. It is one thing to use better tools for the job, and another to make searching for tools an entirely new job in the search for perfection, that logically can't even exist.

Thank you for introducing and sharing this app. I started using this app for organising my PhD work and my life a month ago and I feel much better organised. My anxiety has also been reduced. I first heard about this app on your channel.🤗

Over the last few years, I have watched several YouTube videos and read several articles on “productivity” systems. They are all well-conceived and valuable to users. Sometimes, they are called “project management” or “task management” systems. Regardless, their focus is on “tasks/activities”. They can cause users to become “masters of the minutia”. This is in contrast to a person’s “objectives”. Sometimes the word “goals” or the term “end results” is used to mean the same thing as the word “objectives”. Regardless of the word/term used, I am talking about a condition, a situation, or a state of affairs that a person wants later in his/her life. That may be wanted just a couple months from now or many years. “Tasks/Activities” are merely the “means to the ends”. It is your “objectives” (end results) that are far more important than “tasks/activities”. Consequently, I highly recommend that people who develop “productivity” systems incorporate the development of “objectives” into the design of their systems and encourage users to start by defining their “objectives”. And therefore, each person should spend a fair amount time defining his/her “objectives”, both short term ones, preferably medium terms, and maybe even long term ones. Add them to whatever “productivity” system you use. It is important to write them down, because, over time, you will modify / refine your “objectives” and it will be important that you explicitly acknowledge those changes and modify your “tasks/activities”, accordingly. To help with defining your “objectives”, I’ve created a list of “categories” of objectives to get your thinking started. I believe it to be a comprehensive list. Here it is. * Personal / Professional Relationship * Physical / Health Condition * Mental / Intellectual Condition * Emotional / Psychological Condition * Spiritual Condition * Wealth / Financial Condition * Security / Safety Condition * Fame / Reputation * Power / Influence * Skill / Capability * Possession / Property (Things you have / own) * Location / Place (Where you primarily reside) Again, note. These are “categories” of “objectives”, not “objectives” in and of themselves. Finally, the “tasks/activities” in whatever productivity system you use need to be in support of and linked to one or more of your “objectives”. If some “task/activity” isn’t, you need to ask yourself, “why am I doing this?” - - - In some productivity systems, it is easy to create the links by adding tags to your “tasks/activities”.
  • Congratulations Mariana !! I am happy for you both. Take care love

I am using tick for 3 years now. It's the best app I ever saw and they continue improving their app. it deserves every penny

They say if you want something done- get a busy mom to do it. Oh yes! I’ve been struggling to find an app that integrates my tasks and calendar together and I watched tens of productivity gurus talking on and on about their ‘second brain’ systems but I felt that NO ONE understood the mind of a busy mom - until your video came along! Thank you for sharing!
  • @CyrusLemonius
I have been using it for a few years. I love the simplicity but full functionality of it. It's not glamorous BUT it does what you need without a fuss. The mobile app is a joy to use. And the price means this has been my goto tasks app without fail
  • @calliopelove
I’m testing this app now. It’s great! I’m running into a couple of “bugs” but after watching your video, I can see these are my own issues / questions, not the app.

A lot of people have been asking me why I'm recommending TickTick over Akiflow. The short answer is: it depends on the user but OVERALL, TickTick is a clear winner when you look at pricing. Akiflow is fantastic (and I'll be switching to Akiflow once they support an iOS app) but it's very geared towards people with multiple teams and multiple areas of life they need to manage (that's why Akiflow's main trait is importing data from other productivity apps like Gmail, Slack, Notion, Asana, Trello, etc.). It's not a very common type of workflow and the app is expensive - something that makes sense for me, as a business owner and someone who's simultaneously working a 9 to 5, but for many of you who are students, that subscription probably won't pay off.

I have to say that I stumbled on your video 6 months ago and was sold. I've been putting off making the change, but found this video back and am stoked to make the change!
  • @mbabybz3
Great video, well organized, comprehensive, and clear.
  • @TeeWreh

  • ❤thank you for the Skillshare opportunity 🙏 I was so excited 😁 when I made the first 1000. Enjoy the new world of parenting❤.

It’s been a couple years since I last tried Tick Tick. I spent more time setting it up than actually using it 😅 The aesthetics bothered me and I think the setup was annoying as well. It looks like it has made a lot of improvements since then though. I might have to give it another try! Congrats on the new baby! From one mama to another - the first year of motherhood is a wild one. Nothing is more humbling. Stay flexible and be gentle with yourself! ❤️

  • @jen_vg
Oh! I've been switching back and forth between my bujo and ticktick for years! So glad you found it, now I'm gonna hop back in again (please don't switch to a bujo just now, these switches take time and I'm easily swayed 😂)
  • @iradicalism
I've used ticktick for a few months now and I think it's the perfect productivity/to-do app for me! and now I feel validated because you love the app as well 😂
  • @Trasin
I use Todoist in combination with my calendar. It integrates very well and works similar to this
  • @renanluna3625
I didn’t know this app!! OMG! I always asked why Google Calender didn’t worked integrated as a to do list. That is all I always wanted. And a habit tracker!? Perfect
  • @fmj899
wow! I used to use this app and they didn't have the calendar or matrix at the time. I will have to give it a try again because that looks so useful!
