I am Japanese. Mankind has created many masterpieces. But none will ever surpass "We are the World". I wish for peace in the world.

It’s so sad that we might never get this much talent in a song again. Their voices are so rich and beautiful. What I would give to have these voices in present day music.

After watching the Netflix doc ,I have so much Respect for Lionel Richie. This man had to host the American Music awards. Performed 3 times at the awards . Won 4 awards Then race to the studio, help Michael and Quincy arrange. Then help all the other singers with their problems. Then keep Al Jarreau from getting drunk. He made sure people had food . Stayed til it was completely finished which was damn near 7:00 am . Lionel was running on Empty.

In June of 1985 I was in the U.S. Navy and we had a food drive. I remember going to a grocery store and asking the manager if he would donate some food for this drive. He asked me what it was for and I said it was going to Africa. He told me to call the next morning and he said he will see what he can do....I called him the next morning and he just asked me where to send the food his boss told him to donate. I told him where and two semi trucks of canned food stopped and unloaded cases and cases of food. It was loaded on a ship and sent to Africa. I called the manager to thank him very much and asked him why so much food...He said he grew up poor and knows what it means to go to bed hungry. He also said that there was baby formula, diapers, baby-food, and seeds for wheat, corn. That we, the guys at my command, did this in response to this wonderful song we heard for the first time in May of 1985 (We were deployed for four months and spent two months at sea getting ready for deployment so we never got to hear this song until we got back in May 1985.)

Dam Steve Perry’s couple of lines, huge impact, his vocals are just something else.
  • Tears flowed as I listened. I am 79 and I realized I never gave this its due. Miraculous that these egos could all be together and showing such JOY for the world.

The bruce and stevie duet will always blow me away🔥
  • @ssinger67
Can we all agree that there is a special spot in music heaven for Quincy Jones for putting together the Stevie Wonder/Bruce Springsteen duet, which remains one of the most jaw-dropping sequences ever put to tape? I remember the reaction when it first came out and I still get chills....
  • @smileyone351
I wish we could all be like this. Come together no matter what race we are. This world is nothing like it should be.
