Matt, I think you’ve reached the point of this channel, where you should be buying two of these things, one to show off, and the other to do a tear down on. Would have really loved to have seen the actual size of the battery, compared to all the other electronics inside.

As an engineer once said "The last of the old will always be better than the first of the new" but they already made a promising product thats somewhat competitive in the market

It seems to me that the information in this video is entirely based on the manufacturers claims. What we need to see is a full strip down plus hard testing. We need to know the component quality, the build quality and whether or not those charge cycles and performance figures really stand up.

Why do you say the Yoshino works over a wider range of temperatures, but then show a chart saying that it only works down to -10, and a liquid battery works down to -20?

Matt, have you done any kind of testing to confirm these are actually using solid state cells? Just eyeballing the specs it seems to me that all of the most immediately testable properties of these devices (weight, capacity, power in/out) could all be achieved with conventional NMC lithium ion cells, at the cost of much shorter service life and theoretically increased safety concerns compared to their LFP competitors

Therefore, I would like to see this battery tested in hot weather. For example, can I leave it in my car without worrying that it won't lose much charge?

This makes me so very excited for the battery tech of the next 5 years. When the 1st gen product is only about 15% more expensive and only modestly more heavy, we are already so far ahead. This tech has the promise of such greater energy density.

It was my understanding that solid state batteries charged rapidly...The Yoshino charges no quicker than LiFePo4 batteries...

It takes a couple hours to charge? One of the biggest things solid state always bragged about was charging would be orders of magnitude faster than lithium batteries...

I worked in the oil industry for years. In the field we used Motorola handheld two way radios. They cost ~$1,000 each and have very limited range and can’t last a 10 hour shift. Then we purchased some Baofeng units, $40 each, hundreds of channels you can program yourself, almost unlimited range and I just dug my unit out and turned it on, 3 out of 4 bars of power. Not bad considering I’ve been retired for five years, true story.
