Serbia was already fighting in World War 1 before it actually spiralled into a global conflict, it had even already seen two wars in 1912 and 1913, so equipping the Serbian Army was a challenge right from the start.

6:09 - my great-great-grandfather Vojin Vojnovic was issued the Chauchat light machine gun, like the one on the pic on the Salonika front. Not him on the pic though (3838 Chauchats were issued to the Serbian army altogether). With it, he was often charging in front of others, even receiving bullet holes on the sides of his tunic but was lucky enough never to be wounded. He got the order of the White Eagle for bravery but remained a private as he was considered too reckless for promotion.

Last time i was this early, Austria-Hungary failed to conquer Serbia
  • Imagine how badass you have to be when it took Germany, Austria-Hungary and Bulgaria combined to defeat one country.
  • Ej ljudi, preveo sam im preko 140 epizoda na srpski jezik! Možete ih sve naći u plejlisti na mom kanalu. Pozdrav svima!

I just realised that Serbia fought on as many fronts as Italy a nation much larger and with a bigger population

Great episode. Years ago a friend of mlne went to BeIgrade during that famous Guca music festival. He was like: “Wow, so many beautiful glrls with that funny hat.” He was trying to say “the Šajkača”, of course.

"The head gear was an olive green shajkacha. They had a leather belt with a holster for a hand gun and a leather sabre hanger." A real serb hangs his weapons on his hat!
  • @not_ZY835
I guess you could say this episode was about The Great Wore
  • @kooraiber

Belts on Serbian uniform Model 1908 was also issued and Serbian soldiers used it cross over chest, because it was reduced sound during sneaking to Austro-Hungarian positions. Also on Cofu 1st uniforms issued for Serbians were British made M1902 Servicedress with Adrian helmet. Due to logistic problems, British made uniforms were replaced with French ,,Bleu horizon".
