Hailed as the most faithfully filmed adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary characters. This acclaimed series stars Ronald Howard as the world-famous sleuth and H. Marion Crawford in a different portrayal of Dr. Watson than usual.

THE CASE OF THE HAUNTED GAINSBOROUGH: Malcolm MacGregan will lose his family's Scottish castle if he can't make the mortgage payment, by midnight. His attempts to find a buyer for the Gainsborough portrait of his ancestor Heather have failed because her ghost keeps appearing to curse anyone who takes the painting. Holmes believes the haunting has more to do with the greedy mortgage holder than an actual spirit.

  • How beautifully silly can this series get? I love every minute. It must have been fun to make!
  • It's fun seeing Archie Duncan playing several roles in addition to Inspector Lstrade such as Malcolm MacGregan here and Lestrade's cousin Insp. MacDougal in the episode of the Jolly Hangman. Many of the ensemble cast of extras played several characters in different episodes.

  • This ghost is a very charming & whitty lady! And this episode is absolutely one of the best in the entire show!
  • Love the piper’s put down of Archie! Great dialogue. I think this is my favorite so far as I go watch from 1 to 39. :)

This episode, with the Lady Beryl episode, is my favorite one. I find Archie Duncan superb, a very fine actor, along with Ronald Howard and H. Marion Crawford. Excellent actors. Thank you, PizzaFlix.

That was decent of Holmes to still be concerned for her health after she fainted, and Mr. McGregor to let her rest in one of his rooms after what she did.

How many small business owners would love to sit at home and wait for customers to come knock on their door. Holmes has it made 😊
