I Love how the demon felt so utterly oppressive even for the viewer. You never knew if a moment was real or not and you could always expect things to go wrong. There was no way to outsmart the entity the entire time.
  • The jumpscares were honestly one of my favorite parts of the movie, it actually caught me off guard and the audio engineering was extremely impressive.

Imagine not believing in any paranormal stuff and then being actually confronted and hunted by one. The shock and panic would be so massive that I think it's quite understandable how she reacts to other people not buying into her being cursed.

When I watched the movie, I was left in awe in the fact that the A-train was in the movie. Seriously won my love for Smile!

Watched it in an empty theatre, anxiety is a word

By the time the credits rolled, there was a genuine sigh of relief in the theater I was in. I feel like a lot of people didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. Also even the credit music was so creepy people were rushing to get out of the theater
  • I work at a theater and it is rare that stuff stands out between horror movies. The audio design in Smile is actually kinda cool and unique.
  • The trailers made it seem like one of those blumhouse mass produced bad movies but this one was actually surprisingly good
  • My favorite part was the car scene where she said “It’s not about the miles, it’s about the smiles.”
  • That scene where rose is lying in her bed with the door open to a dark hallway really got my anxiety working overtime. The overall tension in the movie was fantastic 8.7/10

The jumpscare with Rose's sister at the car window was something I didn't see in the trailers, and instead saw for the first time watching it in theaters. Same with the other jumpscares, I had barely seen anything from any of the trailers. So when the scene came up in theaters, I was expecting a jumpscare, because it didn't make much sense for her sister to walk back out, but the head twist thing absolutely caught me off guard. Definitely one of the best jumpscares I've seen in a movie.

After how many horribly bad horror movies have released over the past few years, Smile is actually a breath of fresh air
  • I think her visceral reactions was more of her trauma and panic about what's going on and it fit very well in terms of her character. Like, someone's trying to break into your house and kill you but no one believes you because "ghosts aren't real"

Dude i thought it was going to be ridiculous. I actually had chills at certain points in the film
  • I think the part about her getting mad when others don’t believe her is meant to show how much of a toll this whole thing was taking on her mental health. I actually thought they did a good job of progressively making Rose go more and more crazy as the movie went along. Because when she first starts seeing signs of it, she is still goes about it in a rational way. But the longer she has the curse, the more desperate she is to get rid of it, therefore making her more defensive when the people she trusts just assume she’s going crazy. I mean, just imagine that you’re literally being tormented by an evil entity to the point where you are physically harming yourself and the people closest to you just write it off as “This b*tch is crazy. Get away from me”

When the protagonist said “it’s smilin’ time” and then smiled all over the place, I realised how much of a movie it was.

This is one of the few horror movies I've seen in a while that just keeps ramping the tension up. Once the "entity" attaches to Rose in the beginning it never slows down and let's you let your guard down. The tension and dread is always prevalent. This movie was great.
  • BROOOO....THE SCORE, A+! It's rare when a movie can make me feel very unsettled. The tension from the plot along with the acting and attached score was masterful. There were certain scenes when the low rumble of bass had me looking around wondering if it was coming from the theater next to us. Also the ending credits score was the icing on the cake, it had me and my fam on edge.
  • Every time it showed the main character look away from somebody and look back at them I was anticipating them to be creepily smiling. This movie keeps tension the ENTIRE time and it was actually quite good. Also they somehow used the audio to make us feel the same as the main character, like in the cat scene it made you also feel the "oh shit" feeling.
