HOAs should never be allowed to foreclose a home.

Best law is fully banning HOA
  • My sister is a realtor and she's told me that over the last five years the 'no HOA' rule has become quite common among buyers. An HOA is often the deciding factor between two comparable homes. Recently a small subdivision in our county dissolved their HOA because it's very existence was driving down their home prices. The entire point of an HOA is to preserve home prices, so the owners decided there was no point in the organization. People are wising up. This is the only way to end this nonsense.

There's not enough middle fingers on this planet to describe how I feel about HOAs!😮

The problem is not excessive HOA policing. The root of the problem is the existence of HOAs themselves.

A HOA shouldn’t be able to steal your house you paid for.
  • Had (past tense) an uncle who moved into an HOA area in Florida. After about a year, he got a notice from the HOA telling him his car could not be parked in his driveway or on the street (outside of his garage) because it was too old ! The car was a low-mileage vehicle, in excellent condition, but because some snoop from the board discovered it was more than 10 years old, it was "unsuitable for public display in his neighborhood". That week he bought the rustiest & cheapest wreck he could find at the junkyard and parked it, without license plates, in front of the HOA President's house. ~ took a few pictures and made enough copies to plaster all over the area. Sold that place within a month and made sure the local news got the whole story for their Sunday real estate section.

Why does HOA even exist!???? Sounds like a criminal entity.
  • HOAs should be abolished. They really aren't necessary for a community to thrive.
  • My sons have lived in HOA’s. Both sold the homes they loved to escape the tyranny.

My brother and sister in law are currently looking for a home to buy. I overheard my brother mentioning that he wants to avoid buying a home within a HOA. When I saw this video, I now understand why.

Just ban HOA's. You buy the house not the whole damn neighborhood.
  • This has to be illegal. WTF. The fact that this hasn't been outlawed already is insane. This is just theft.

This is exactly why when I bought my 1st (only) home 15yrs ago, I said "NO HOA" stupid realtor wouldn't listen & I had only one other request besides price range 3-4 bed ranch...how hard could that be, but every home attempted to show me--Hoa, I would not go & said I wasn't be cooperative let them do their job. Relator fired, found my own--no HOA property!! Been loving life every since, neighbors don't bother us, we don't bother them & always kind to each other.

Good ol billable hours. Sounds like the state should go after the lawyers AND the HOA
  • @SamSung-ww3rp
I have never heard a single good thing about an HOA
  • @ianbattles7290
If somebody else can dictate what you do with your property, it's not actually your property.
  • @ro63rto
So, let me get this right...... In America, if you steal a car its a Felony and you get a year or more in jail BUT if you steal someones home you get NOTHING ???? How the hell is that even possible ?

Ban HOA's. I heard about how an HOA chopped down multiple healthy 40 year old trees and are set to cut down 70 more trees. They told homeowners that there was going to be tree "maintenance". Three out of five board members voted to chop down the trees. The homeowners are feeling the negative effects of the trees being gone (no shade, wildlife being gone, etc) and they are working to have the three board members fired.
