I Made the Most ICONIC Quilt of All Time

Published 2024-05-27
How to make a watercolor quilt pattern for beginners. Watercolor quilting uses a gradient background by blending colors to create a watercolor effect with fabric, just like an impressionistic painting.

It's a SUPER easy and fun sewing project you absolutely need to try!

Years ago, I once bought a new book on watercolor quilting at a book fair. After reading the extremely detailed instructions, I never made one. When I later met a friend of a friend who was an enthusiastic watercolor quilter, I presented her with this book. Turns out she had been searching for the out-of-print book and actually squealed. Twenty years later, I'm going to give it a try after watching your video. The smaller size seems manageable and way less fussy. Thank you ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ„

I love making black and white quilts with a splash of colour in each block. Very dramatic. Red is my favourite.

Beautiful quilt. When you look at the colors in nature, all the colors look great with each other, no matter what color they are. I think the same is true when sewing scrappy or watercolor quilts. All the colors of fabric look good together.

I liked it very much, but not sure I like it better than just plain scrappy๐Ÿ˜Š

Black is great for a stained glass look. I recently did a simple quilt for a niece, squares of small black and white patterns, arranged checkerboard like, but sashed with bright aqua. It was lovely.
  • Beautiful ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜!! This is something that children could do. A great first back to sewing project for my children โคโคโค oh...and I will be doing at least one as well....so many themes to choose from....

I've done water color effects to make the front pieces of vests. I didn't know that pattern had a name! I had the pattern meet at the B inner section of each piece. They came out beautiful! I've also been very creative for the back piece. I used black/ grey bias tape to finish them.
