You may have noticed I've been uploading far less this year. Unfortunately I've been ill and struggling to recover. I might make a video about this soon. But the good news is, this is the big video I've been working on the past few months. A tribute to the game "Dredge".

I would love to hear what you think of this music and visual direction, and what you hope for me to do next Also this song is on Spotify: "I'm Heading Out (Of My Mind)" - listen here: open.spotify.com/track/0IuWW1xbkRMAyWoFoZqTsh?si=1…

Picture this; you have taken a job on a small fishing boat. They were a crew of four, but now a crew of three, until you joined them. They all have their oddities. When the captain is steering, he does not seem to register the world outside the cabin. There have been no accidents yet, but you get the feeling he is not the reason for that. Your fellow fisher is less odd, but he is intimidating. However, on the nights of a new moon, you catch him staring out to sea. Sometimes, if you follow his gaze, you swear you can see a full moon reflected in the waters. He doesnt talk much, but he oft mentions something he calls "the leviathan". He talks about it like its existence is a fact that everyone knows. The strangest member of the crew by far is the navigator. You dont know how he navigates, as he has never left the lowest deck; perhaps your just noticing patterns that arent there, bur he never goes above water level. He reads strange books, and somehow his sextant still works, even without a view of the stars. He also never reports his navigation to the captain, but you get the feeling that wherever you end up is where he wants you to go.
  • You're seriously incapable of missing. Your ability to rap over such different types of beats with no loss in rapping quality is frankly unreasonably incredible. You have skill comparable to a Shonen protagonist at the top of his game, I swear

I love the visuals so much, i feel like the rhymes and homophones got more and more ridiculous as the song went on haha, that last verse was insane

Think this is your greatest vocal performance ever. Lyrically you're a beast as always, but your voice, announciation, variety, tone, color - you've added so many levels to the lyrics and the theme, you came across as if the illness you're battling is nothing short of madness and it's gaping maw. One of the greats Dan, great work!
  • I absolutely love the look of the set design! The misty windows and murky water. Really well done!

The line are plasma, despite being base nautically, but what really sells me is how Dan became an entire fishing crew to sell us how mad he'd gone! A double tribute to Lovecraft and Jack Sparrow all in one. Fathomtastic!

Making a song for Dredge is so based, absolutely loved the unique ideas this game brought to the horror genre. It's genuinely amazing at terrifying you in the middle of the night and forcing you to be careful and fear everything around you, all while pushing you outside of your comfort zone. And goodness the story is beautiful.
  • @theofficialgoth
On top of the ridiculously depth in the lyrics, you get this mix of horror, small orchestra/ensemble, digital, AND sea shanty. So good. Love your work, Dan. Can't wait to listen to this for the next 3 weeks.
  • Song actually goes hard. The chorus is the most creative I've seen Dan get. He hit a new high with this song!
  • "Lower your gaze at the Abyss and it will show mermaids." is such a raw line. I loved this one! I didn't knew about dredge, thank you for making us know about it. I also caught the Angler's mask at 2:34, 2:35 , 3:00 which is just, ice cold! And a Stupendium(?) mask at 4:02

At the risk of sounding cringe, this is the second song I'll be explaining to my therapist as a way to visalize how my depression feels.
  • It's wild how you consistantly make music that feels like it's specifically aimed at me. This is the kind of chorus that's going to seep into my inner monologe frequently at 3am when I should be sleeping but my ADHD won't let me take the two steps to my bed. I'll still be tired, but at least the soundtrack will be good.

This has made our day, and is catchy as hell!

I’ve never seen Dredge before, but this song makes me want to check it out! I love how there’s some lyrics that call back to “Dive into the Madness” though, such as “deep down down below the waves” and “is it any wonder”. Both songs being about dark and insane people, both taking place out in the ocean, love it Dan! Also hoping that whatever you’ve come down with subsides soon :))
  • @nameunknown5106
I love how the vocals at 4:12 do NOT follow the lyrics and is instead insane gibberish. Really adds the feeling of madness to it.
  • @IllyaA100
This is bloody amazing! It's that subtle creepy stuff that creeps like the shadows until you understand it's too late to scream. And the verses are fire. And that Stups is doing his part - it's "Frostpunk" all over again! And I am all in for it.

Wishing you a speedy recovery dan, and thank you once again for providing top quality music. Your music and its continued existence means very much to me.
  • I absolutely love how haunting and melodic your raps can be, all the while delivering such powerful lines. The up down up down, sea-shanty rhythm just satisfies everything that I look for in music. Your work is such an artistic inspiration for me, and it lends itself to visuals so well, it’s like each verse is a picture!

I absolutely loved the game Dredge, this rap is such a welcome tribute, you might not upload as often but your skills are always on point
