I want the old days back... cars I can work on... computers that don't spy on me... and a Government that guards and protects the Constitution.
  • @ronaldhudson169
Windows is a bully, not only watching you but constantly gaslighting you into giving it more and more information. Linux has been my daily driver for over 10 years.
  • @cseale61
Linux has been my daily driver for 24 years. No regrets. I am a software and web developer.

From Denmark, I myself switched my 5 PC+s from Windows 10 to Linux Mint 21.2 now (21.3) 10 months ago. And I will go to Mint 22 in short time. And I have not regretted that, My main computer I use is a Ryzen 5800x with an RX 6600 which works 100%. And Those who only need to use their PC for online banking, mail, printing, surfing the net will never run into problems, that is my experience . I'm so tired of their licenses you have to buy, here in Denmark a license for Windows 11 costs a whopping 100 dollars, and the microsoft account. And all their nagging that they come up with now. I enjoy Linux, I find it challenging, and never Windows again. And I newer come back to Windows again.

I quit on Microsoft 6 years ago, I am now using Linux Mint and I love it. you cant go wrong.
  • @rudischoors3874
As a systems administrator back in 1985, I abandoned Microsoft in the early 2000 after doing the Y2K for DHL and stumbled upon DOOM embedded into Microsoft Word. Using Linux and OSX ever since.
  • @johnsmith-gs4qf
I use Linux Mint for 99% of my apps and Windows in a virtual machine for the remaining 1%. I could use Linux for 100%, but there are a few Windows apps that I like to use, but I make sure to cut off ALL Internet access to my Windows virtual machine (for security reasons). I recommend an all AMD solution (CPU & graphics card) to make things easier in Linux. I use VLC for video/audio player, Libre Office, Gimp for bitmap graphics, Inkscape for vector graphics, DOS Box to play old dos games, Virtualbox for Windows, Vidcutter for basic video edits, Audacity for editting audio, LMMS music creator, Kdenlive video editor, Handbrake media converter, etc. Linux isn't perfect (nothing is), but it's AWESOME!
  • @ohmygosh6176
In 2024 Microsoft is advertising for Linux and Intel is advertising for AMD. What a crazy year.
  • @PC4USE1
I tried Linux in the early 2000s and was stumped by it. Fast forward to 2017,I tried Linux Mint 17 and was able to get it going. When Win7 passed away in 2020,I migrated to Linux and am satisfied. Not a gamer, but steam covers that, not a graphic artist but plenty of substitutes in Linux. The average Joe/Jane Doe can exist very well on modern Linux. If Windows wasn't like it was now,I might still be using it,since I started with Dos/Windows in the early 1990s.
  • @davidmilisock5200
I'll be watching and paying attention, in 2025 Windows 10 is no longer supported. My 8 systems are all getting old, so it is very fortuitous that you're here again to provide useful information.
  • @tiqo8549
All time windows user here. Changed (for fun) to Zorin Os 2 years ago...for some reason i still use it as a primary OS daily. Linux came a long way..
  • @steverandle4177
i've used a "computer" of some description on a daily basis for nearly 50 years, and i think i can honestly say with hand on heart, that Microsoft Windows 11 is by far the most despicable peace of computer software i have ever encountered. I'd rather go without than use Windows. Linux all the way.
  • @kevinintheusa8984
I switched to Linux Mint over 2 years ago and never looked back. Our son, an IT engineer, laughed at me then and now he is learning Linux Mint.

I just started cutting the cord with Ubuntu 24.04, I paused the video, downloaded, installed and was working on setting up when I came back to finish the video. Thanks for the video!

In 2015, on July 31, release day for Windows 10, I upgraded my main PC from Windows 7 to 10. I was, to say the least, aghast at what I saw. I restored my backup of my Win 7 setup (not trusting the Win 10 rollback feature) and figured I would give it some more time to "cook." I remembered how Vista had a rough start, but it ended up being decent after the issues were fixed (not that most people noticed... they'd gone back to XP). When the November update came out, I thought for sure that MS would have listened to their customers as they had with Vista and fixed it. I tried it out (as an upgrade) on a spare computer that had been set up as Win 7/ Kubuntu Linux dual boot, and none of my main complaints (which were far from being mine alone) had been addressed. That was when I realized that the issues I had with Windows 10 were not oversights or rough edges... they were key design features. Windows 10 was not meant to serve my interests. It was meant to serve Microsoft's, and even though Windows users were communicating this loud and clear, Microsoft chose not to hear it. That was when I set up my main PC as a dual boot with Kubuntu. The phase-out of Windows, my operating system of choice since 1990 (3.0), had begun. One day, some months later, I realized that I had not booted Windows in a long time (over a month). That was when I realized my migration was complete. I still kept Windows 7 around in case I needed it, since I had already paid for it, but it turned out that I didn't need it.

  • For me the most important thing using linux is installing it on a BTRFS file system. I will give up on computers altogether without it. It has saved me so many years of heartache and tears when I first discovered it. I can break the system completely and have it restored under 20’s. To me it’s one of the greatest technologies of all time. Kudos to the individuals who worked on it.

How in the hell did Bill Gates get from "Stop stealing my software" to "Give me complete control of your life"?
