Except MOTH VERSION, lol.
WOW-EE, this was a hot mess of a project. I got to dig into my fabric pile/hoard finally, and try to recreate this vintage costume.
This is a casual, grocery store look? What better way to social distance than to SPREAD THOSE MOTH WINGS, BABEH.
Does anyone actually read these descriptions? lol
I love you all!

  • When you're painting on darker fabrics. Put a layer of white down first. It'll make the colours more vibrant. 😊

You should do a "But Make It Vintage" for Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice! (that wig is giving me serious Winona Ryder vibes)

“Once something goes in the trunk of my car, it doesn’t leave.” We are soul sisters, because I still have a nurse’s kit in there. I quit nursing school 3 years ago.

The orange soaking into the fabric problem was probably caused by two things: very low pigment concentration in the cheap paint, too much fabric medium, and not using a white or bright yellow base layer.

"I doubted myself pretty much the entire process," said every crafter/artist ever lol

Rachel: this is one of the weirdest things I've done in a video Me, who watches micarah trewers religiously: oh sugar....

"Moths are more interesting than butterflies" Finally someone who understands me! Moths are absolutely beautiful! Fun fact: my father used to call me "Motte" which is moth in German 😂❤️
  • Awe! My great grandmother had one of these when she was a teen, her mother sewed it for her, except instead of butterfly wings it was bird wings. This makes my heart happy ❤️
  • The final garment really reminds me of a brazilian book called "O Caso da Borboleta Atíria" (The Case of the Atyria Butterfly). The main plot is about a butterfly called Atíria (which is actually a moth species) who solves a crime that happens amongst the insects in the forest. The book is illustrated with beautiful drawings in ink, and the artist imagined the protagonist with short black hair, a black dress and huge wings, very much like a fairy, and quite similar to your moth costume!
  • sees Rachel pull out the Apple Barrel brand acrylic Me: oh no honey that stuff is 80% water and 20% disappointment 😭
