One of the best games ever made, with a still active community
Definitely worth a buy (all DLC recommended)

15 year old me would've loved this game had i known of it's existence.

This is nuts. So basically everything that's fun in Helldivers 2 already existed, they just cranked graphics, mechanic, plot and fine details to 11, then translated it into 3rd/1st person mode. If I was them, I wouldn't have expected the success either. Good on them though, because those extra details are exactly what is missing from gaming for a long while.

Just played it today... jumped into a a running game... and I did not do well. Said: "Im sorry, didnt play this for a while" Answer: "You did well, lets go!" Next Mission I stompt someone with my mech. often. He or she said: "Great job covering our back with the mech. You are doing a great job, sorry for running in your way, thx for revive" Me: "Sorry for stomping you" Anwser: "You are big enough to be seen and harder to control. Go" I dont know these people and will never meet them again. Thats a community I wish for every game.
  • As an old player of the first game, it’s a special feeling seeing all the new Helldivers from the sequel discover how different yet similar the first game was and understanding what made both games so special and dear to everyone’s hearts. It all still feels like a fever dream to me, going from a humble cult classic to one of the biggest hits of 2024. What a time to be a Helldiver.

Words cannot express how badly I want a helldivers 2. I hope the nVidia rumors are true

Who’s here just to revisit the OG helldivers after Helldivers 2 dropped
  • @Lofloral
Crazy to see this game after only playing helldivers2

The difference between helldivers 1 and 2 is astronomical. Literally heaven and earth. Even though these are practically 2 different games its cool to see the similarities.

Now it makes sense why the second game is so good. It's all already there! The statagems, the friendly fire, the orbitining ships, the drops, the attention to detail (I appreciate EVERY SINGLE PUFF OF SMOKE!). The second game is just that, but more, oh boy, way more :D
  • I will start by saying that I never played helldivers 1 but only the 2, I find incredible how almost all of the mechanics that make helldivers 2 fun were present in the first one but I think we need to acknowledge that the team did an INCREDIBLE job in translating them from top-down view to 1/3 person. Well done to the team.

I heard nothing about this game until Helldivers 2 came out and all I have to say is WOW. Going from a top down game in helldivers 1 to what helldivers 2 delivers is nothing short of phenomenal, The devs should be extremely proud of themselves. You can tell how much work they would of had to put in just comparing the 2 games. Can’t wait to see how they create helldivers 2 and the content that will be added over the years, this is the only game that makes me feel like a little kid again.

One of the few games that still has a great community even 7 years later. I've been playing this game off and on since it first released way back in early 2015, on playstation. Grinded up all sorts of stuff there then moved to PC when it hit Steam in December of that year. I think what amazes me is how the community has never "died". Dwindled, sure. But the people who are left are people just like me: they just want to help new people discover the game and all the chaos it has, and encourage them to have fun. 90% of the time I fire it up I look for games with new people and just sit back and let them do all the work, occasionally I step in when crap really hits the fan. It's just so cool to me that even after all this time, there's still tons of people who play it who just want to let people experience what this game is truly like. You'd think after all this time, only toxic bittervets would be left. But I have found that they are in a vast minority. In fact they are shunned by the community at large. Truly a very wholesome community.

The difference between perspectives of 3rd person vs top down isometric made all the difference. If helldivers 2 came out with this level of graphics it would still eclipse the first game's success. This game already has all the right recipe, it just needed a proper plating presentation.
  • @BonafideDeuce
The way the divers show up one by one just felt so good to see. As if a rallying cry for people to show up and help.
  • so upset they didnt add all of the music from OG Helldivers in 2nd game

After seeing the success of the second game I kept wondering how the first one flew under my (and most people’s) radar and after seeing the gameplay and the shift they made in 2 I understand why it blew up. The concept is solid (somehow can’t believe how MS & 343 let something like this slip under their radar) and making it a 3rd person multiplayer action game feels like a fool proof plan (w/ good marketing and a handful of luck ofc)

Only thing helldivers 2 feels like it's missing is the audio of guns almost being out of ammo (both laser and lead weapons) - maybe even the red tracer bullets to signify that the gun's almost empty too.
  • Got to respect the grind, hustle, vision and the originality. From HellDivers 1 to HellDivers 2, you can see the dna of this game never changed. Good to see devs stick to their guns and avoid following trends.
