What's Going On With Cole Perfetti?

Cole Perfetti is one of, if not the best young player that the Winnipeg Jets have in their organization. Perfetti looked like a legit top 6 player through the first half of the NHL season, however, has slumped in the 2nd half. In turn, he has been in and out of the lineup, and his role has been diminished. Does Cole deserve to be benched?

Everything was fine until he hurt his wrist earlier on in the year. Since then it's been a rough and bumpy road for him. I think he just needs a little break so he gets all wound up and once they let him back on the ice he will be better than ever.

Perfetti is going to be a star in this league. He will bounce back! hard to play good when jets move him around the lineup every game

No idea what it feels like to play a sophomore season but it looks real difficult if you reference Perfetti. Same size as Roslovic who had lungs for days but nowhere near the hockey IQ. Cole gotta go thru a Rocky Apollo training camp this summer.
  • I feel his play dropped off after he got the cross check to the face in Minnesota. I also believe it'll help once he bulks up a bit.

What Perfetti can do is build muscle and bulk in the off season. If you look at the picture with Mark #55 who is standing erect and Cole who is bent over, Cole still looks small even tiny. With the playoffs about to start this disadvantage will be more evident.

What do YOU think the Jets should do with Perfetti?

Give him a summer of training and recovery. Top 9 forward next year

I have my doubts that his wrist injury has fully healed. Personally, I'd send him to the Moose for two or three games to regain his confidence.
  • Finally somebody with a logical big picture take on Perfetti. All ive read and seen for that last month is boomer takes about size and how he is a bust because McDavid and Crosby lit up the league at 18 so thats the new normal. Delusional senile fans who still think its 1990 (gotta include Bones in that crowd) are the only people happy about Cole in the pressbox
  • @Skeadarelli
perfetti is great, i totally agree with you

He went on a long run not scoring points, and he started year in PLD spot. They didn't trust him put Monahan 2nd line. Still thought he's not 2nd line material and got Toffoli/moved iafallo up when Villardi got injured instead. I was against trading Perfetti since only 22 but we have Mcgroarty,Lambert,Chibrikov knocking on door. Maybe this offseason if unable resign Demelo/Dillon trade him for a Dman.

He was playing incredible back in December and January but ever since a possible wrist injury he hasn't been the same as the big slump The Jets had. He was a legitimate top 6 player. But now he is bottom 6. It's just really unfortunate. He was a 2nd line in skill. It's just sad since a fourth line with someone as good as Iafallo then Perfetti and Barron maybe. That would be great after the slump. But if old Cole Pefetti comes back and Vilardi is injured. It will most likely be Perfetti going back to 2nd.

He is clearly talented. Great passer. High hockey IQ. But play during the 1st half is different from the stretch/ playoff hockey. I hope he gets hungry/ gritty and he brings that energy when he gets called. Jets will need him if they go on a run.

Frankly, I disagree with a protracted benching of Fetts. He's a proven set-up man, and is very defensively responsible. Solid +/-

I feel for the kid. This was supposed to be his breakout season. I hope he finds his groove again. Perfetti during the first half of the season was buzzing!

I would have him in and Appleton out right now. But would trade him for a young top 4 potential RD. Next yr there wont be a spot for him if we keep Toffoli or Monohan, and Lambert and Mcgroarty coming up
  • @Zwikster
He has such good vision and playmaking skills but just needs to bulk up. Seems like he slowed down after getting banged up by the NHL brutes and hasn't been the same

I’d rather have iafallo out on the ice over perfetti at this moment. AIs defensive work ethic is underrated, and will be needed for the playoffs.
  • @jj204
Sophomore slump. Needs to work on his speed if he wants to be a top 6 guy tho. On the other hand, if his linemates and Cole himself could finish, he’d still be in the lineup.

Trade Cole Perfetti to Nashville for Cody Glass. Pretty evenly balanced trade right there. I like Perfetti a lot, but if we're gonna trade him, I'd prefer we trade him for another great young player in Cody Glass. Big fan of his & I would love for him to be in our team. Cody Glass & K'andre Miller are my 2 dream young pieces I want for our team.
