"Just keep the lights on" I can remember, back when I was 9yrs old and afraid of the dark. My uncle said "if Jason was actually coming to kill you, do you think the light being on will stop him?" and followed it up with "at least with the light out you won't know he's there and it'll be quick." My mum didn't ask him to babysit ever again, lol.

Portrait of God is so delightfully scary. i saw it a while back, and it's still one of my favourite short horror films i've seen. i love the fact that the image is still there after the screen is lifted, and formatting it as a school presentation is a fantastic way to give the exposition without being unrealistic about it. i absolutely adore the ending, the fact that she had this "religious experience" that seemingly lasted for a few minutes, but in reality she's been standing there, staring at a blank screen, completely frozen and unblinking is incredible. not to mention her undying faith in the thing she's supposedly running from. it's one of the few short horror films that is equally as horrific every time you watch it.

The thing about "Lure" that really takes me out of it is when the monster just gently sails through the window. It gets me every time, it's so funny.

Fun thing to think about: when you have the infinite mirrors setup, you are technically looking into the past. Each reflection takes just the tiniest bit of time to reach the other mirror and then your eyes, so if they are big enough to see enough iterations, you can actually see the delay

As someone who works in a clothing store, people absolutely ignore the "closed area" signs if they think they can get into a fitting room lol.

As a huge indie horror fan, that "God Portrait" was legit fascinating to me...felt like i was holding my breath the whole time. I know you won't see this, but thanks for sharing dude!

The Portrait of God short film was done so well!! There were no unnecessary jump scares which usually ruins all suspense and mystery of the thing we're meant to be afraid of when watching these horror stuff. And love the idea that for us we saw her having that outer body experience for a few mins, but in truth it had been 3+ hours
  • Im convinced that people who sleep with their bedroom door open fear nothing
  • Ah yes, watching horror videos in the middle of December. The perfect holly jolly good vibe for the Christmas season!

The first video reminds me of my friend with schizophrenia. It was so hard for her tell what was and wasn't real. Eventually a stray cat adopted her. The old boy was terrified of everyone except her so she knew if the cat was chilling, the things she was seeing probably weren't real. (I have narcolepsy and most of the hallucinations I get are sounds or shadows in just in my peripheral vision. No where near as scary as schizophrenia because it's more obvious my brain is just dreaming while awake - but enough to creep me out sometimes)

Fun fact for those who don't know: Portrait of God was made by the same person who made the Home Videos one that Sean watched a while back. The one with the camcorder in the basement. Thought that was cool. They honestly did a great job on both but it's crazy to see the improvement over time as well

The last two were definitely the best imo, but Portrait of God was maybe my favorite short film I've ever seen. I absolutely love the ideas in it and it was executed so perfectly. These are the people I'd love to see writing and directing movies, it's so refreshing to see something unique.

Dude! You showed the video my dad was in, Tom Racine!! It was the "Portrait of God" one, he did the voice that said "Its beautiful" at the end of the recording :) I'm really glad you liked it Jack, I always love these videos :))

as a nighttime security guard i can guarantee that the dark and solitude REALLY does fuck with your head at times especially if you are someplace old or normally lively during the day, like the old but still popular local shopping mall i work at.

The thing that scares me the most is knowing I’ll have to work for the rest of my life just so I can be able to afford to live a decent life
  • @KuzaKat
the Portrait of God one was possibly the most incredible short horror ive ever seen, that was SO good and unsettling holy fuck i loved that!! Thank you for sharing such awesome works!

The concept of a room with mirrors is a doubly terrifying one, due to the idea of mirrors being portals to the other side, it's why the whole fun house mirror thing sets many people on edge.
  • Jack: "Do you see that?" YouTube bitrate: "They did not, in fact, see that."
  • @shybuckett2937
fun fact: parallel mirrors are actually very commonly considered to be portals for fae/the supernatural and because i believe in those things, that last one is freaky as fuck 🤠
