POWER-CHAIR TOUR - THE WHILL C2 👩‍🦼‍➡️ Electric Wheelchair Suitable For Ambulatory Wheelchair Users

2024-07-08に共有
I've had my Whill C2 power-chair for a few months now and thought I'd show you around! I've had a lot of questions about this chair and my experience so far, so in this video I show you some of the features that benefit me, ways it differs from my previous power-chair, and some of the limitations I've observed so far. As always, all views are my own and I only speak for myself, as an ambulatory wheelchair user with a chronic illness. If you have specific questions about the Whill C2, please contact their team directly as I'm not an expert and they're best placed to advise!

Hello! My name is Pippa Stacey and I’m a disabled writer, speaker, and communication consultant based in York. I enjoy theatre, books, and fundraising, and can most often be found wearing some form of pyjamas and drinking all of the tea.

I acquired my chronic illness as a young adult and struggle daily with the challenges of living my best life alongside managing a debilitating health condition. However, I’ve finally learned that I don’t have to ‘overcome’ or ‘defy’ my illness in order to be successful, and I know now that there’s nobody’s path you have to follow but your own.

You can find out more by visiting www.lifeofpippa.co.uk, and subscribe to see videos about being a disabled freelancer, enjoying travel and little adventures, and simply learning to find the good in every day. Thank you so much for being here!

  • The forward ergonomic movement that happens when the automatic brakes kick in will happen with any chair with half decent suspension 👍🏻

So helpful seeing this in action Pippa. As someone who has found a stick, rollator and manual wheelchair helpful for my ME a power chair is something i have been weighing up for some time. Thanks for all you do!
  • I can't wait to get a Whill! Thanks for the accessory tour I love the scooter bag my go pride chair has a taller back with no storage
  • Hiya, you can adjust the back height on the whill, have a search and it shows you how to do it. Fab videos.. thanks xx 😊

Perfect timing! I'm going in for the seat fitting for my WC2 on Thursday. I think I'll get the red side panels, but am also wondering what I'll do for a vinyl wrap someday? I was really impressed with how it handles over bumpy grass, loose gravel, and even tracked well across a sloped path with a loose pebbled surface. I also have ME/CFS, and will be getting a higher back from the start, to support my upper back. I'm getting better arm rests added too, as these additions will support my body much better, reducing movement fatigue. Your videos have been very helpful to me. Thanks Pippa!

I think I commented on your previous video about the Whill saying I had a demo a few years ago and didn't like it. I actually wanted to say in the last few weeks I had another demo, after watching your video, and I got on with it so well! I think the difference was the demo person set it up better for me this time around and it felt more comfortable. I ended up buying it, a second hand Whill C, so the older model compared to your C2. I've also got a manual chair with a Triride so I'm so grateful I have different aids for different situations. Pros of the Whill for me is that it has a much smaller turning circle compared to the footprint of my manual + triride plus the basket underneath holds stuff in! The downside of the Whill is the 10-11 mile range which feels quite low compared to the 30 mile range on my Triride. You also have to beware the "shrug" jolting motion also happens if you set off too quickly! I put mine to speed 3 and started going and it accelerated suddenly and jolted me 😂 I've learned to start going in speed 1 then increase it!
  • so glad you like ur new power chair mine has given me the freedom I needed so we don't have to take the car to town anymore we can just walk as it was to far for me to use my manual chair. its also cool you have so many extra things added on to the chair, does the cup holder fit a coffee cup too?
  • The purple panels. It was the purple panels, wasn’t it?! 😂 I was gutted I couldn’t get them here. I’ve bought a mobility scooter poncho which is long and has a clear but so I can see my hands and use the joystick if it rains when I’m out. I tried one that fits over, but found it really dangerous.
  • On the range side of things, although the advertised range is 11miles/18km the max range Iv had out of mine is 10 miles/16km on perfectly flat smooth ground at 4mph (fastest it can go) I know this isn’t a real world scenario so I found it useful to work out what the minimum range of a full battery would be. And on very hilly gravel and trying to match someone else’s walking pace and stopping and starting it will comfortably do 6.5 miles/10.5km. Knowing this has made planning trips out easier

Bumbag for valuables and custom made bucket bag (and ruc sac handbag for manual wheelchair) both with clip on straps for me. Only because i really don't like the utility style black wheelchair accessories. My arm rests are blue 💙 I don't like idea of locking wheelchair and phone breaking so i bought the key!!
