YOu have a million dollar yacht, but decide to let it ride out a hurricane. Galveston is just two days away at most and you had three days notice.
  • IDGAF about a damn yacht getting destroyed. People's lives are more important.
  • @redsammy7789
Never understood why you would not move your boat out of the impact zone, you see it every hurricane
  • Destroyed because the owner didn’t move the boat when they had plenty of time to do so just a fact
  • Probably with the economy they couldn’t keep the boat anyway - what a great way to forgive your loan! Have the insurance company pay it off and walk away! Sorry to be so skeptical but why else would you NOT protect that investment?

Whilst the loss of life and devastation is tragic, people who can afford million dollar yachts can pick themselves up quicker than those that struggle to live in mobile homes. Let's compare the recovery from this disaster to Katrinas destruction in the poorer neighbourhoods of New Orleans
  • The expected path of hurricanes is well known; why not evacuate these expensive boats/cars/aircraft before the hurricane hits?
  • @oogabooga7882
aw dang poor ol millionaires can't catch a break. average folks scrounging for clean water n food.
  • Does the EPA get involved when all that fuel from the boats get dumped in the harbor?
  • @J_Shawn_Paul
Well that’s what insurance is for and I’m sure they’ve paid a hefty premium living where they live. Insurance companies are not dumb and they win win win win win win win

Sad thing is most of these boats could have easily been driven up the coast to avoid destruction...I don't get these people.

Oops, they must be snowbirds in Florida; when a Hurricane comes to your area on a direct hit, you get in the yacht and take to the north up the west coast of Florida to a safe harbor unless you want to pull an insurance job.
  • Incredible destruction, such a sad outcome and our thoughts are with everyone affected by the Hurricane.
  • I have no idea, so sincere question; why didn't they just sail away before the hurricane hit? out of town/state owners? or was it just too big and sudden to sail to safety?

Don’t understand why the owners didn’t move their boats.
  • Sadly could have been helped. A million dollar yacht should have at minimum a professional captain with a hurricane plan. 🌀
