48:45 "Can the reboot live up to the name it dares to bear?" Yeah. Yeah, I'd say it did.
  • Ever since I played Chex Quest as a child I can not stop my bloodlust and murderous rage.

“This isn’t pac-man, slaughter is it’s own reward.” GOD THAT’S A GOOD LINE.

a part of Doom's legacy that I'm not sure a lot of people know about: Gabe Newell credited Doom 95 with the reason why he created Valve and Steam. He was working tech support for Microsoft, and kept getting calls to help install Doom... even for non-windows platforms.

Critics: gore and satanism is bad Doom 2016 creators: puts satanic images in the sound track

And Doom (2016) met and even exceeded many of the expectations. It is a worthy successor in the Doom franchise.
  • 35:00 “[DOOM 64] is generally considered a spinoff.” In 2020 it’s canon at last, bridging the gap between DOOM 2 and DOOM 2016.

Doom shotgun is so satisfying to use. The sound, animation on the weapon and the target getting destroyed. Glorious.

In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood.

I still remember playing Doom and Duke Nukem against friends in my high school's computer lab, back in Ye Olde Nineteen-Hundred Nineties before schools figured out how to lock-down their computers and make students use them for only legitimate purposes. It helped that our computer lab teacher was a former Marine who thought those games were hilarious; if we finished our work on time he would turn off the lights and say "okay guys, time for killin'!" Ah, Mr. Cardoza, I wonder where you are now.

The way he inserts the actual music from Doom is cool.
