Hi everyone, and welcome back to "Neurodiverse Friends!" Today, we’re diving into the world of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), exploring the challenges of mood swings, impulsivity, and the tendency to see people (and puppies) as either all good or all bad. Pixi and Aspy will be there to support Bidi and Bo as they navigate these complex experiences, even though finding solutions isn’t always easy.

Having BPD myself, this was very nice to see! The immediate regret following emotionally-charged actions during my mood swings is something I've felt so many times, and it unfortunately never gets easier when it happens. My brain also switching anything (person, animal, etc) from 'good' to 'bad' in an instant because of a single action (no matter how small or insignificant) is also painfully frequent, and it makes it very hard to make friends when you're suddenly convinced that this person/animal/thing you're associated with is a horrible being who you should be wary of (like the puppy in the video). Very lovely video, I've been there before many times. Love all your work with trying to represent neurodivergence as well as stigmatized disorders 💖

why did i silently screech like an eagle at this notification 💀
  • I, someone with Autism and being good friends with someone with harsh mood swings, was delighted to see Apsy being there for Bidi. I’m also a dog person, so extra points!

There’s something really special about the way you convey neurodivergent solidarity. So many discussions about neurodivergence focus on distinguishing ourselves from others, both us vs neurotypicals and our diagnosis vs the rest. It’s super nice and refreshing to see the focus put on the shared experience of neurodivergence and how we can use our unique perspectives and gifts to lift eachother up.

I like how, even though the animation focuses on the cat with BPD and how they don’t necessarily want to snap at their dog friend, it doesn’t invalidate the dog’s feelings either (with Aspy comforting the dog and the dog still looking a bit sad). it is sympathetic to everyone involved!

I amazed at the fact Aspi barely emotes and I think they're the cutest of them all

I like how the puppy didn’t immediately forgive them in the end after they snapped at them. It took the rest of the day to warm up to them again. I’ve dealt with people who have BPD before and I know they can’t help mood swings, but as someone who grew up with a father who has severe anger issues it takes awhile for me to trust someone again after having an outburst at me. Very well portrayed!

I CLICKED SO FAST PIXI I LOVE THESE SHORTS SO MUCH; THEY ARE ALL ADORABLE
  • The switching between moods, that good/bad thinking, and that fear of abandonment, you've done an excellent job at portraying it all in an easy to understand manner. Thank you so much for doing this!

Love the setup...and payoff obviously. Not only does this short feel like a classic cartoon, it is nice to know that BIDI is in good company...in more ways than one. 😊
  • Aw that's so sweet of Aspy holding the puppy and helping out their friend.

I have to say, the backgrounds really made a difference for this one. It made it feel really serene! Just lovely work, as always!

My friend has BPD and they always says it never gets representation, thank you for doing this one. ❤

0:44 Love the double meaning pun in this scene here, and I adore how Aspy is looking after Bo. So flippin’ adorable, dude ❤ - Ava

Ah yes mood swings a common symptom for ADHD. Ive had mood swings before and it makes me feel guilty sometimes. It just happens idk why but still i love the animation ❤

Another gem! That instabt regret when you lash out at your environment because you yourself aren't feeling well... that was very well pictured. It's a difficult feeling of powerlessness and it will make you lose friends. Not everyone will be understanding, it's hard to make up for those episodes. My moodswings are mostly ADHD/autism related. I found that learning about my condition helped enormous to be able to explain to people. I ask for help, for gentle feedback (the gentle part is REALLY important!) and I take accountability. I was lucky to meet quite a few understanding, kind and gentle people who I feel safe with. I'm not as isolated as I used to be and I've been practicing with speaking up. I found that talking helps a whole lot, but sometimes people just need a hug, or for you to just be around in a sort of neutral state. It feels great to not be alone. These videos really help. Representation masters so much!

No matter how bad the modern times may be, I'm glad we now live in a time where we can see Neurodivergences in a better and kinder light, and not treat them like obligatorily dangerous diseases.

DUDE I RELATE TO THIS SO MUCH. Sometimes you need to spend time away from eachother so you both can heal! I know how I am because I have bpd. Seeing Bidi being sorry and upset they scared Bo away is so relatable. Im so happy that people with bpd are getting good representation
