The New Acura Integra Type S Is the Best FWD Car In a Decade - TheSmokingTire

Acura's all-new Integra Type S is to the Civic Type R what Porsche should have done with the GT3 Touring, but neglected to do. It's got all the performance and all the fizz, but dialed back just enough to be a better everyday street car with more comfort features, a slightly softer suspension, and better technology. It looks great, its performance is exceptional, and it offers incredible engagement and feel but with minimal harshness. Zack and Matt hit the canyons to explain why this is the best front-wheel drive car we've driven since the Ford Fiesta ST in 2014.

Acura provided the vehicle, insurance, and a tank of fuel for this review.

Hey guys - there is a small error in this video and it's my own fault. I don't know why I said the Honda Civic Type R has 20" wheels. That's the last-generation car. The current generation car has 19" wheels. The Integra Type S has 19" wheels that are lighter than the CTR's current-generation 19" wheels. I guess I backfilled that one on my own. Stupid mistake. - Matt

Instead of referring to $50k+ cars as "affordable", I think it would be more accurate to say "attainable. As in, if someone were to save for a while, they could buy it at some point later in life. Thats different than a 911 turbo which will never be attainable for the large majority of ppl. The BRZ and miata are what i think of for affordable sports cars

I know they said on the podcast the more produced videos aren't getting the numbers they hoped. But this stuff is gold. Zach's CTR vs ITS bit and Matts closing statment gives strong original top gear vibes. Absolutely love it.

Everytime Zach reminds us that he's 40, I'm convinced he is an immortal. Must be good living, doesn't look a day over 32!
  • @zackydeuces
Zack's backhanded compliance about "not comparing to the CTR" is not lost on me and I love it lol
  • @matts5430
Matt's hand and facial gesture at the end was an excellent homage to Clarkson.
    Well done!
  • @FastRedPonyCar
Our local dealer is getting one and has a $20,000 markup... absolutely insane.
  • @aaronbarkley539
Yeah IF you can get it for 52 grand, but you can’t, dealers are killing the car market with ridiculous mark ups and this will be the same thing, RIP to anyone trying to buy a new affordable sports car.

This is the best review you guys have done. Stepping up the production quality for sure! And...congrats to Matt on the 20lb weight reduction!

Sitting in a room with Acura you'd have to mention no rear air vents, arm rest, seat back pockets. No ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, etc.

Matt, you have one of the most trusted automotive opinions in journalism. You're very balanced and approach things from a practical point of view. When you say something is the best (which I might add is rare) we really understand how good it is. Great review, now I want one.
  • @stevensanchez330
Damn you know it’s a good car when Matt says it’s perfect 😳
  • @kac1754
Great production. I loved the old casual one/two takes with y'all, but the extra effort put into this new format is great, too. Keep it up!
  • @Kristofferheihei
From someone who hasn't watched in a while for some reason, but did watch all the stuff you did for years, I must say that this video was a breath of fresh air. The extra time spent on editing and filming really made a bigger difference than expected. Really nice video guys 👍 and its good to be back watching TSM. Still remember all the tuned videos in some veeery scetchy cars
  • @smooth_ops2942
Zack is great enough to get his own show... Matt is lucky to have him really. Love his comedic tid-bits and 1940's TV voice he does 👍🏻
  • @andrewagaloos6971
Your guys updated one take format is killer. Love how refined you’ve gotten. This channel & savagegeese have great takes and shine in your own respective ways. Cheers
  • @TheOtherPlayer
I like how this one had nice transitions between Matt’s and Zack’s speaking segments.
  • @just4ivaylo92
Sublime vehicle. Love the journey that Acura has been on in the past few years.

The review from both of you guys was also awesome. Very well done!
  • @soyeux27
This video is as perfect as the Acura Integra Type S can be. You did an incredibly insightful, detailed and comprehensive comparison between two venerable champions, the Type R and the Type S. GREAT JOB to both of you !
