People used to say that you work in Singapore , live in Malaysia and party in Thailand.

Thailand is a wonderful country but only in moderation. You have a lot of temptation especially for single men. The bars, the parties, ladies, vacation mode. I had my share of that in my 20's. I don't judge people for it because I did it as well. But now in my 40's and married I goto Thailand to relax, the food and most people are very friendly. You have seen the differences Ben. As I have said numerous times. Thailand is for vacation and Malaysia is for living. Some will disagree and that is okay based on what one wants. I am not Muslim. I am Taoist and have never been discriminated against in Malaysia. I adhere to the social norms and I live and let live. Every country has pros and cons. It's up to you to decide what you can accept.

Hi Ben. You found what the best for yourself. And its time for you to learn deeper abt Malaysia and Malaysian. In term of religion, yes, Malaysia domination by Muslim but Malaysian are respected towards others religion and races. Not only because of religion (especially Muslim), make less destruction in Malaysia but because of respectful behaviour and politeness of Malaysian. Every races in Malaysia teaching self values. This make Malaysia so valuable.

Yes, Islam means peace as well as submission to God. So for Muslims, following its rules will surely lead to peace because God knows His creation best.

If you find yourself getting bored in Malaysia, journey out of the cities into the jungle and find some adventure.
  • @jackoneil3933
Exactly Ben. Many years ago Malaysia felt like home, and I felt happy and secure there. Thailand was much more progressive and fun, but you have to be pretty well centered and go there for the right reasons. A friend from South Africa who had lived and worked all around the world and who spent years in Thailand said "Old Siam is a fool's paradise that destroys fools.

Fyi Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia are celebrating Independence Day soon, good for you channel
  • It's risky to talk about Islam in the open (here in the comments), chances it will get heated 😁. Basically there's Islam and there's Muslim(the people) which is a mixed bag, like anything else. I have travelled extensively in SEAsia via motorcycle road trips, from villages to big cities, from Myanmar to Laos. One thing is prevalent, poverty and alcoholism... something you don't find very much in Muslim areas in Malaysia (I'm not saying there's aren't other problems here), but it's one less problem.

Okay, Ben. Since you asked, Islam is a religion that essentially protects life. It protects your health, your mind, your spirit, your family (wife, kids, parents etc.). It also protects your money and society. Whatever that God has decreed, it is always for the good of the people. Since Earth is God's creation and we live on it, we need to thank God and show our appreciation for Him in the form of prayers, remembrance of Him and other forms of worship. We are also supposed to donate a certain part of our money to charity in the form of Zakat and donations to help the poor, sick and unprivileged. Shariah is basically Islamic principles in the form of law. We have Shariah ingrained in our minds so we don't do anything that goes against what God has deemed evil like drinking alcohol, doing drugs, oppressing people, stealing their property and murder. This is why you don't see practising Muslims committing all these acts of evil, since we know that we will be accountable for all our actions in front of God. There are other things to write about, but you can also do your own research on them. I'm sure others will also be happy to answer your questions on Islam.

  • I Feel You... Currently I am working in Singapore.. Happily Settle Down in Malaysia for Good....
  • KL is great! get a nice condo with gym and infinity pool, not far from the centre, great food, great shopping, you can work without distractions, and getting tempted by substances, its less chaotic than many SE asian cities. Quality for less money, than we pay in the west.
