The United States Army Field Band is the premier touring musical representative for the United States Army. Its four main components, the Concert Band, Soldiers' Chorus, Jazz Ambassadors, and The Volunteers, travel thousands of miles each year presenting a variety of music to audiences throughout the nation and around the world. Public concerts, school assemblies, clinics, festivals, and radio and television appearances are all part of the Army Field Band's schedule.

This educational clinic series is designed to share knowledge with America's young musicians and to aid teachers by focusing on specific musical areas. New educational materials are added to our collection each year.

Thank you for the kind words! It means a lot to hear such positive feedback. Now that this resource is on YouTube for free please refer this to all the young aspiring trombonists that you know.

My 9 year old wants to play the trombone in band next year. I start the video for her, and I end up watching.
  • @noonedude101
My gut reaction was to point out bad cheeks on one of the players - but having played for almost 10 years in every condition from oppressive heat to freezing rain, if it works it works.  All that matters is what comes out of the bell.

We had to study our instruments in band and I found this video I watched it 3 times and I got an A on it thanks guys so much
  • @yung_lemon6314
Ive played trombone for years and i still learned new things!
  • @chazysoccer11
Thank you for this wonderful video. I had the honor of playing trombone with the US Army Band when I was 15 years old, an experience I will never forget.
  • @saltysophia8003
I play the trombone, and this sounds amazing! I don't think I'll ever sound this good!

I know I’m 11 years late, but I just want to express my gratitude that our amazingly talented military musicians actually devote so much time to public education. I know it must have taken you tremendous patience to do this. You are deeply appreciated.

I love the large bore tenor.  It was always my best instrument.  It is so versatile - I could play all the marches as well as high pitched jazz solos.

I'm originally a sax player, but for the past two years I've been picking up other instruments. I've taught myself euphonium, trombone, trumpet, and clarinet. Just last year I found these helpful videos, and have watched them all for the instruments I've been learning. I plan on being a music teacher when I'm older so I also watched the videos on French horn, percussion, and oboe. I've recommended all these videos to not only my band friends, but to the middle schoolers I help teach. They love it
  • I'm a fairly advanced trombone player (not an expert, but have studied for 9 years and play in an advanced wind ensemble as a senior in high school) and this video is still helping me! This is a perfect video for beginners, those at my level, and those much better than I. Thank you, Army Field Band!
  • @Saxologic
Yes! That is going to be absolutely amazing. It's very difficult to find good saxophone players, as you get better and your standards get higher. But I heard a few of them in the "Inside the Big Band" and they were terrific. Can't wait!
  • @olivercdx03
Wow! This is great!  I played the trombone in grade school and worked on forklifts in the Army.  Thinking back, I should have kept practicing the trombone.
  • @TheIceIvy
I just discovered this as a trombone player with 2 and 1/2 years under my belt and this is pretty informational while being entertaining to watch. I especially love all the short trombone songs I've heard in between showcasing what the trombone can do and finding new songs to listen to that way.
  • @tylermintz6754
Ok first off this is an amazing video, I've been playing trombone for a few years and I'm going to show my section this. Thank you so much, this has helped me think of ways to better myself at playing my horn.
  • @gracieibarra
I'm 13 and I play a straight tenor trombone. I'm in jazz band, marching band, concert band, and honor band, and I love music and this video. It taught me so much and I plan on practicing everyday so that I can become a great trombonist or at least I hope to. Anyway thank you to all of the Sargents and lieutenants who made this video I really appreciate it and I'm sure others do to
  • @meltoncul
These fine young soldiers do a great job on Trombone instruction. It's generous of them to take their time to impart to the public these valuable techniques.  Thanks Guys.

Due to time constraints, not all subjects could be included in this video. If you have a specific question, we'd be happy to try to answer it.
