Modest Mouse is the greatest band you will ever see live
-
i miss when it was just the three of them, i dont mind all the additions, its just that they made all my favorites back then.
-
I love how he adds in Closing Time lyrics. I guess that's as close as i'm going to get to a live performance of Closing Time.
-
They were definitely at their best around this time, but I think Modest Mouse has held up way better than some other bands have.
-
You kidding me. This is one of my favorite versions. It's so hard to choose which one but this ranks in the top three. And All Night Diner is one of my favorites songs live.
-
now they play with 2 x drummers, 2 x 6-strings, a base player, a guy on keys, and sometimes a guy on tambourine. 6-8 people bring it together ...evolution. makes me practically bounce off the ceiling. we knew they were great in 98. Now in 2012 they lead the next generation in a new direction

There is an all night diner in west lafayette, indiana (Purdue University) called "XXX" Rootbeer. I've always wondered if this was the place he was referencing. Anyhow, I've eaten there just to say "I was at an all nite diner, the sign said triple x but they were talking about rootbeer"
-
In case you didn't know, xxx rootbeer is a little burger diner in Issaquah, Modest Mouse's home town. (and there food is really fucking delicious)
-
"Its alright on ice!" "o yeah i totally forgot about that one " hahahah awesome
-

-
For such an accomplished band, and an awesome some, I'm surprised this the only live version out there
-

I WANT THIS GIG!
-
you people rule for uploading these older performances
-
It's impossible to find the right tabs but people have come close. It's the way Isaac uses his distortion.

@oliverohaver ..my 1st mm show was in 95, in my opinion they are still in their prime, in both originality and the message they wish to share.
