The real fans know this song... Rest In Peace Jeremiah Green. 1-1-2023.
  • I have to say this; the first time I watched this performance I was about 13 years old and remember what an odd feeling came over me when I did. I don't think I had ever seen so much raw emotion displayed in a televised performance before. Before then it seemed to me that performers were all about presenting a polished controlled version of themself on the stage, but then in contrast with that, to see Isaac sitting here singing in a rough, unpolished voice, sounding on the verge of tears at some points, smoking a cigarette and improvising words at the end, kinda hammers home the point that these are flawed people. Which I think is why Isaac makes good art, and why people identify strongly with it; Because people are flawed. Also it says a lot about how special and different this band was from most others at the time. Thank you for uploading this. I was afraid it'd be gone when I saw the other one was taken down.

i think its impossible not to feel such a strong connection with issacs mind through his lyrics, so personal but also so universal

One of my favorite vids of my favorite band. We must protect Isaac at all cost. I love the way he throws the cigarette away before casually finishing the song. God I feel this song in my bones...

Best performance of any Modest Mouse song in my opinion... just beautiful
  • I have to listen to this at least 3 times in a row before I'm fully satisfied (and I hate repeating songs)❤

Damn it Isaac, you are a genius. Currently on my way out, maybe another year left before it all ends. Having this played at my memorial.
  • @terryfunku
Isaac was blackout for this and doesn't recall one second off this enchanted performance. An artist possessed, I suppose.

The live versions of this and "Float On" are phenomenal. I go to them time and time again for inspiration.

I had been getting deep into MM throughout 2004, and I remember flipping thru channels and couldn't believe it when I saw them playing on Austin City Limits-will never forget that cold winter evening.
  • Remember seeing that pink cd spinning in my see through CD player during long rides or just jamming 😀 good times(are killing me) 👍

This is one of a handful of songs that truly changed my life. Chills still to this day when I hear it. I always loved this live version because of the authenticity of the vocal. He’s genuinely in pain, anxious, a bit angry, and just pours his soul into it
  • When I was 10 years old I remember hearing float on and ocean breathes salty on mtv. I went out and bought good news for people who love bad news and it totally changed my life! I listened to a lot of music before I heard MM and it was without a doubt almost like hearing music for the first time. They have been my favorite band ever since and have influenced my taste in music, my taste in art, my taste in life.
  • One of the best underrated songs of the 00’s, modest mouse really illustrated a lifestyle of a young depressed and angry young man

This song has a special place in my heart , it helped me in a very bad time in my life!
