Lyrics:

Oh, yeah
Mmm
Still don't know what I was waitin' for
And my time was runnin' wild
A million dead end streets and
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
How the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
There's gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time

Mmm, yeah

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Don't tell them to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Where's your shame?
You've left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can't trace time

Strange fascinations fascinate me
Ah, changes are taking
The pace I'm goin' through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Ooh, look out, you rock 'n' rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
Turn and face the strange
Ch-ch-changes
Pretty soon now you're gonna get older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can't trace time

Certain people need to listen to this song. Not just hear it; listen to it, and reflect.

To me this song is about facing whatever fears you may have in life, whether its something you can or cant control, you have to face it and embrace it because afterall life is full of change and if you arent facing the "strange" to then you will never find your self. Its one of my favourite lyrics, "turn and face the strange" and it means so much to me. Whenever im feeling down or anxious it helps me decide on whats important to me and what will help me be the best i can.

David is warning everyone about getting old,all u youngsters a change will come
  • This song is transcendental. It goes beyond the time when it was written. It's a piece of the "always-present" of human experience. I love this song.

I can’t believe I heard my first David Bowie song on Shrek 2 before realizing it was David Bowie, the same guy who played Jareth from Labyrinth. That dude was in my childhood without me realizing😅

Absolute pure talent, spent most of the 70’s listening to this track and album. He truly was a trend setter. Rip 2016 missed by millions. Love from U.K. 💜🇬🇧

Artists like Bowie, Jagger, McCartney, Mercury.......they'll never come again......league of their own. Timeless stuff. 😍🤩

I'm not a spiritual guy, but I have had a personal connection with this man on the deepest level one can have with a musical hero. From my childhood days when my dad would put on the Ziggy Stardust album to present, I get the chills when I listen to him. Like so many other fans, I was crushed when he left us all.

I wonder when they're gonna start making lyric videos for all of the albums. Bowie pulled off so many different styles and aesthetics, every video would look great.
