Took me a couple times to watch this video and I see exactly what you're saying on the odds changing maybe once when they break out the gate a few seconds but I've never seen it do it that many times it's odd

Thanks for putting this race up! This crap is happening way too often. You don't even know the odds you're getting anymore until after the horses cross the wire😂 What was strange was I've hardly ever seen a horse odds drop after they have clicked him up while the race is ongoing. It usually drops a few times or stay the same.

They could solve this problem easily with some effort. Don't start the races until the money is all in. At least that way you know what you're getting when the race goes off. Lock everything at one minute to post. Warn that you have one minute to wager or cancel at the two-minute mark.

A lot of people don't understand why this is happening. Companies like Twinspires/stronach group - have computer betting systems that watch for certain things and then they dump money on certain horses. NYRA actually banned the Spires and Stronach late computer betting but many tracks don't. I can't tell you how many times you score on a 8-1 shot going in gate that hits the wire at 7-2. Or even more so when 5-2 becomes 7-5. Just part of the computer age of wagering on the ponies.
  • In 1996 on Sunday at Santa Anita,a horse won and paid $50. I was in Vegas and flew out back to Canada. I checked the pay out at the Edmonton sports book. The price was $35.

Do the odds ever go up during a race when a horse wins? I have never noticed that

Probably not fixed but not fair how the odds change. Maybe more understandable at Tampa with a smaller handle. Seen it happen at larger tracks with bigger handles. With all the simulcasting the money's not all included till after the race starts.
  • You can thank the simulcasting of races for this. Once upon a time when the gates opened the betting machines are locked and the odds locked in, not anymore. Now with locations all over the world it takes time even after the race has started to accurately post the final odds. There isnt anything to be done about this.
  • I lost my life to horse wagering. That explains everything.Even if iam the worse player you still win occasionally. Plus the odds are crazy.

I think the best solution for this is make everyone on the same level betting wise and have the bets stop a little before the race to allow for them to process.

This is normal for tote odds. Biggest bets always come right before the jump. Even here in Australia and also Hong Kong where the pools can be enormous, it's normal to see the odds change through the race, even the interim dividends can differ from the final official ones. If you think your horse is going to shorten it's best to get fixed odds, do any bookies give you fixed odds in the US?

I wish you would look at 1st race at Aqueduct on 4/8/22, #1 ridden by Kendrick Caromuche was 1/2 odds came out gate and almost immediate he is ridden stiff, Caromuche stands up in saddle lets pack of horse get going holds his horse back, then when leader is out far enough he gives horse the Gas and passes every horse but cant catch leader and settles for second even though he was speed figures in race. Check out the replay

I'm generally highly suspicious of odds drops, but this one seems reasonable to me. The horse was only 8-1 on the morning line, and in her previous race against the same horses, she went off at 3/5 and showed speed from the outside before quitting. 18-1 was a ridiculously high price in this situation, and anyone with a decent model who's tapped into the tote system would have sent money in on this horse at the last click. The odds drop was just getting her down to where her odds should've been in the first place. Also note that the #9 dropped from 5/1 to 7/2 and finished nowhere; and it takes about twice as much money to knock a horse from 5-1 to 7/2 than it does to knock one from 18-1 to 12-1.

Years ago I had some very good connections at Detroit tracks. I was told exactly how a particular race was going to unfold, what position the horse would be in for the entire race and when he would make his move. Yes, the fixing was quite common. i was just 19 at the time and unfortunately didn't have the bankroll I did in my later years, otherwise I would be filthy rich. Truth.
  • @perryberman2824
It works the other way too. I had a horse 5-1 at the gate and won at 12-1 while the fav ran up the track.
  • It didn’t look fixed to me the 1 horse ran faster, the 4 ran his race he was many lengths ahead of the rest of the field
