Actually, there IS something interesting about the wither painting. You see, it ISN'T a portrait of the wither, but rather a painting of how to MAKE the wither. It doesn't feature the mob, it features the structure you create to make the mob; three wither skulls affixed on top of a soulsand "T". I'd bet a partial reason for its inclusion was so that players would be able to, if given enough time and curiosity, piece together how to summon the wither without needing to search online. I'd like to imagine that someone, somewhere, put this painting up in their base completely unaware about the wither's existence and decided to copy what the painting looked like to see if anything happened. That would just be so perfect...

Paintings are probably the only thing thats in the modern versions of minecraft that still makes me feel very nostalgic (apart from the music of course... and bricks ig)

I think the main reason they added the wither painting was for people to discover how to create the wither, as I assume it wasn’t wildly known back then. Now, most people know how to create it, so It doesn’t serve too much purpose.

The craziest thing is Zetterstrands art might just be the worlds most viewed art considering the hundreds of millions that have played Minecraft

The fact that no new paintings have been added since 1.4 is interesting as music discs were actually in a similar situation ("wait" was also added in 1.4 I believe) until last year when they added Pigstep in (and also otherside this year)
  • I think the wither painting was introduced for the players in order to know how to spawn it. If you look closely it's not the wither in the painting, it's four pieces of soul sand with 3 wither skull above it. This way a player with absolutely zero knowledge about this game can wonder if that paninting had a meaning, try to replicate it and spawn the boss. This is because unlike the ender dragon, the wither boss has no arena or dungeon, so it is much harder for a blind player to aknowledge its existance. The painting could be a hint left by Notch

8:02 It's not a game console but instead a computer, however the Commodore 64 did have a cartridge slot. It was a very popular computer for its time; and there are whole modern day communities that adore them.
  • The main thing that bothers me about paintings is that they don't come in nearly enough shapes. There aren't any 3 block wide paintings for example, and there aren't any paintings taller than their width except for the two 1x2 paintings. If they ever do add more paintings they really need to fill in these gaps

8:03 C64 was not just a gaming console, but an 8-bit computer and it is, in fact, the highest selling computer model of all time

Dollar sign on the Dust painting represent the payout for terrorists after successful blowing of B site and ending the round. Because they basically win.

Oh boy, as a builder, I think it's about time that Mojang hired artists to make more paintings. Maybe some referencing other things and games like new biomes or Minecraft Dungeons while keeping the classic style... 🤷‍♂️

The paintings are iconic to the game even though they are rarely used nowadays

I like the Wither painting because it is the only thing in the entire game which could possibly hint at how the Wither can be spawned. For all we know, there could be a player out there who has never watched, or read ANY Minecraft content out there on the internet, and still managed to find out about the Wither via this painting. Imagine their feeling of curiosity when seeing the painting, and their sudden surprise if they actually tried building the soul sand structure.

I think it would be awesome if they turned the "concept art" from minecraft live into in-game paintings

What if the next vote will be a Minecraft painting vote....

I always pictured the creeper looking thru the window as a reference to Ethoslab original Minecraft series, episode 3, where he traps a creeper in a 4 door and pressureplate trap (the idiot trap). Episode link: https://youtu.be/ZMApydS6WlM
  • Who else loved using paintings as secret doors when they first started playing
  • @BumpDev
I used to think the 2x1 creeper painting was a creeper having a bath in a bathtub outside And I used to think the 1x2 character was Pinnochio

as a swedish person i feel a bit obliged to tell you that "paradisträd" does not translate to "money tree" but actually translates to "paradise tree" i also do want to mention that while i nor other swedish expect anyone to pronounce things correctly it was a good attempt but you skipped a letter as it sounds like you are saying "par-dis-traa" while it is more closely pronounced "par-a-dis-trehd" anyway good video and good job making it
