Here's the story about the time I was captured in Papua New Guinea.

Headhunting among the Latmul was historically part of their tribal warfare practices. It was deeply embedded in their spiritual and social life, often linked to rituals and rites of passage.
The act of headhunting was intertwined with their beliefs in ancestral spirits and the spiritual realm. The heads of enemies were considered to hold spiritual power and were often taken during raids and warfare to gain favor with ancestral spirits.
Success in headhunting was also a means of gaining social status within the tribe. Young warriors would prove their bravery and prowess by participating in these raids.
