I live in the Caribbean and have a Tesla Battery Solar System. We just had the Cat 5 Hurricane Beryl pass by. The Power grid was shut down and my Tesla system ran my house for the next 12 hours. The Solar runs my house all the time with the battery system at night or no sun. I Love it!!!! All Houses should have battery backup! P.S. I kept my transfer switch to hook up a generator at anytime. All Houses should have these systems. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

all that water so close to all that electricity can't be right...

Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) has been a real revolution in energy storage technology. Regular lithium Ion batteries were upwards to $1000 a few years ago, now you can get a decent LiFePO4 battery for around $400. This is scaring the power companies since with enough battery and solar people can dramatically reduce their reliance on the grid, so power companies are lobbying for laws that make it hard to put in and run grid-tied homes, or worse, homes that are totally self sufficient.

Still a single POF at the sump. You should elevate your batteries off the floor on some cinder blocks to protect from flooding due to a sump failure. Wouldn’t want to go in there with a couple inches of water on the floor …

The thing I like about battery backup is the simplicity. And you don't need to go out to start your generator. Of course, if there is NG in your area, a standby generator is really the way to go. Self testing/self switching. of course.
  • With so many EVs and E-bikes burning down houses, haven't you just increased the risk of house fire? Maybe build a fireproof concrete bunker around that big backup battery, or put it in an out-building.

In this location it'll also double as a leak detection solution. The App should alert you when it shorts out.

Instruction manual: Am I a joke to you?
  • With all the roof real-estate you have, are you going to incorporate solar panels as some point?
  • @The_jason1
Whole house generator definitely the way to go. Battery backup is not worth it at this point

Yeah I seen this system on another YouTube channel called hidden heights farm where he hooked it up to run freezers in case of a power outage it would automatically come on and then when power was restored which switch itself back over and I write that company. They sell everything electronic. Even my phone charger bricks are made by them. They are excellent quality

WATER lines AND Electricity. Great combination on the basement wall.

NEC Codes says you should not have electrical near plumbing pipes or water. Potential safety hazard and it could get in the way of fixing the plumbing or electrical when a problem arises. It looks like the manifold to the left is for your heating and hot water and a pipe is under your power switchover box.

Do you have a blue water line running behind the wall panel. Seems like I have heard something about water and electricity not mixing......
  • But what if you have a multitude day power outage? The battery pack is only good for a few hours. You still need a generator or solar panels for the recharge
  • Anker really make some nice whole home back up systems now. I do like the fact you could take it to a different location and it’s not permanently wall mounted. There warranty seems generous so they must have faith in their build quality.

The only thing I guess I have to add is that being able to power the AC is about more than comfort. It's also about controlling the humidity, which can be pretty important. Neat video, interesting to see these.
