I don’t want anyone watching this to go and harass Doktor Skipper. I’m not even mad at the guy. I just want him to do more research and to have a better grasp of what he’s talking about. And if you’re watching this Dok, I just want you to know that I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed...

''Godzilla is public domain in the US'' Meanwhile in Austin Powers: -''Run, It's godzilla!'' -''It looks like Godzilla, but due to international copyright laws - it's not.''
-
The weirdest part of the video to me is when he says the mutos were a representation of Japan and that Godzilla is a representation of the US. Not ONCE in the movie are the mutos connected to Japan and it’s just kinda weird how he kept mentioning it
-
Ever since Minus One came out these fake ass Godzilla fans been bashing my boy MV Godzilla in the head because they watched a Japanese Godzilla movie for the first time.
-
When he says that people don't know Godzilla originated in Japan, I knew he had no idea what he was talking about.
-
Mf says that 98% of the movies suck ass when he only watched probably 3 of them
-
He said that he doesn't even like Godzilla. Okay, then, WHY DID YOU EVEN MAKE A VIDEO ACTING LIKE YOU HAD ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT GODZILLA IN THE FIRST PLACE!?
-
Honestly, I'm just really tired of this narrative that's popped up since Minus One that Godzilla absolutely has to be the villain or he doesn't work.
-
“I’m not mad, just disappointed” were the words that I would hear before being screamed at by my parents
-
Now even I know that Godzilla is not in public domain. Toho’s gonna be holding onto him for years from now.
-
Bro that guy is getting destroyed by every corner of the internet he's never gonna look at godzilla the same way 💀
-
"I can't believe they stole godzilla!!! It's in public domain!" Meanwhile Legendary literally asking & getting permission from Toho in 2009 to take on an IMAX film from 2004: 👁👄👁
-
I love how the Godzilla fandom all saw that rat spread misinformation and shot his shit down asap
-
Dr skipper saying Godzilla is public domain is the most foolish thing I've ever heard monster Island buddies made an entire video on Godzilla lawsuits
-
I’m glad people are coming together to not tolerate the lack of information that people present in videos. Because it’s something that runs rampant in other fanbases.
-
"Godzilla is in the public domain in the US" Yea tell that to Joel Hodgeson lol.

Godzilla as "giant monster pro wrestling" as he's often reduced to in the US, still works. Japan loves pro-wrestling, and it's kind of cooked into Showa Godzilla's DNA. On top of that, Monarch Legacy of Monsters just proved that Godzilla can still do dramatic even when it's not a TOHO or Japanese production. One thing I am going to ultimately resent about Godzilla Minus One is how people use it as a point to bash the rest of the franchise and talk about how "not as good" the other movies are. It got old after the first weekend, and is now kind of annoying. We get it, Godzilla Minus One was great, but that doesn't give me a reason to bash the other movies and certainly doesn't mean it's the only take and tone for Godzilla I want to see.

It feels like ever since Godzilla Minus One was released I've seen horrid takes about the Godzilla franchise from those that don't like or follow the franchise. Dont get me wrong im happy to see more people watch Godzilla—but I've seen some horrible takes about this franchise from people that have only watched Minus One or the Monsterverse universe.

This reminds me of a tweet shortly after Minus One released that said something along the line of "Japan understands that Godzilla embodies the horror of nuclear weapons, the american one fights with a monkey." As if the japanese one didn't also fight with the same monkey decades ago, and hey, at least the american one won against said monkey. Minus One is a fantastic movie, but it really highlights how people on the internet really don't care about Godzilla as a franchise at all, a lot of discourse around the movie is about how they can understand the obvious metaphor and treat it like it's some of the most profound message ever put to screen, and use it to fuel their culture war. I'd argue that the entire kamikaze angle and character arc of the protagonist is the most interesting part of the movie, as it's something that the franchise never attempted before.
-
The original Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla is absolutely a good movie. Not even from a campy perspctove, its as legitimately as fun as any of the funner Marvel movies. This guy is just assuming the "deep" ones are the only worth watching. I'm so sick of people trying to have a hot take just to look smart.

"Godzilla doesn't work in America" 2014, 2019 and 2021 Godzilla Movies: "Are we a fucking joke to you?"
