Medium fan of the franchise. I liked the games back then, completely missed the game reboots and Mario Kart hoopla. I remember the TV show and the live-action feature film so, I’m pretty familiar with the characters.
The Super Mario Bros (2023) is an adorable, colorful, weird origin of two brothers who stumble into a war between King/Emperor/Mega Villain Bowser (Jack Black) and everybody else. While searching for the source of a flood downtown, Luigi (Charlie Day) and Mario (Chris Pratt) are pulled into a pipe which transports them to different worlds. Luigi is captured and imprisoned by Bowser. Mario ends up in the Mushroom Kingdom where he meets and is immediately befriended by Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) who brings him to meet his leader, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy). The trio travels to another Kingdom to negotiate with King Kong (haha Fred Armisen) to join forces against the diabolical Bowser.
