P.S: this is every time macaque is in frame (or speaking). if he's even slightly in frame, he's in the video. keep in mind there are times where i might mess up and miss a few things or add extra context to scenes just because i felt like it, so please be considerate about that :P thanks for watching!

for those who don't know, alejandro saab is macaques new voice actor! if you need some examples, he voices cyno in genshin impact, yuri in fire emblem: three houses and is now going to be akihiko sanada in persona 3 reload. he's an incredibly talented voice actor, and i truly couldn't think of someone better to take on macaque's role! i just wanna say, please refrain from comparing him and billy kametz by saying who's better than the other. it's disrespectful to both parties :( i've seen a few people doing that back when season 4's english version first released and it makes me pretty sad. let's be positive about the change!

Billy’s passing was hard on all of us but if they were going to pick anyone to take over his role, I’m glad it was Alejandro. In addition to being an amazing impressionist, Alejandro was one of Billy’s closest friends and was a huge fan of Monkie Kid before even being considered for the role. If anyone could fill Billy’s shoes, it’s him. Welcome to the Monkie family, Alejandro.

22:43 in an odd way, i like how they visually express that macaque has sensitive hearing like this. in the spot he was at, the noise would be loud for anybody, but for him it was probably really painfully ear-piercing.

You know, it's strange, Macaque had SO many opportunities to capture Mk and bring him to LBD. But... he didn't. In every scene where he tries to capture him, it always seems like he fails on purpose. Especially when he keeps saying "c'mon, fight back. Is that all you got?" it's really interesting because it seems like he's purposely trying to help Mk get his powers back in a subtle way but still have deniability if LBD asked. Especially since he literally says "he still has power... good" so uh yeah. And the fact that Mk literally offered himself up peacefully, and yet he still didn't take that opportunity. So uh yeah, I definitely think he was failing on purpose and provoking Mk so that he would get his powers back.

32:21 as much as they act like they hate each other, Wukong and Macaque still vaguely care about eachother. Wukong's face here says it all.

Out of all of them I think Macaque is easily the best character in the show I absolutely love his development and how he’s characterised, not to mention how his relationship with MK grows throughout the show. His motivations and morals are always so interesting and his whole thing with having shadow powers due to living in the shadows both looks cool and is really interesting. Also I love how the smoke monster looks with the bandages and eventual mech makeover Plus he just has a fun personality and great voice actor(s) Also also his leitmotif and theme are super cool

Idk if anybody’s caught this yet, but at 30:30 I’m almost absolutely certain that possessed Wukong used his laser eyes here! The power he had seconds after being born that he never uses again! The camera zooms in on his eyes, and on a wider shot of the blast, his arms are out back, so it doesn’t seem like the blast is coming out of his hands!

Macaque's first episode will never not be epic for me, his introduction was great to show us his character and motives, and showed us how powerful and dangerous he can be to everyone

32:20 I kinda just realized that Macaque was screaming while the others were either angry at or insulting Wukong, who was shown staring at Macaque sadly. It was probably the perfect depiction of one of Wukong's many regrets.
