DIY Christmas gifts for procrastinators! Excuse the AGGRESSIVE christmas music/theme for this video, but I am in the Christmas spirit for the first time since being a literal child and I am enjoying it! Probably 'coz it's taking my mind off Australia burning down (yeah that's happening rn). If you have any money and good will to spare this holiday season, please consider donating to the RFS - they are the volunteer firefighters putting their lives on the line this Christmas to save people's homes and lives in my home state: www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/volunteer/support-your-local-br….
All of the ad revenue money from this video will be donated to the RFS as well, so if you want to help contribute, make sure to watch those ads ☺️

I think that sewing machines should have a alert when the bobbin is about to run out.
  • Thumbs up for YEEDLE. Made any interesting handmade gifts for people? I want to know about them! ❤️ (ya'll inspire me so much!)

I’m making my sister and brother in law who are working to reduce plastic in their kitchen a nice set of knitted cotton dish cloths. They’re an eco-friendly sponge substitute and also machine washable and you can boil them to sanitize them which actually makes them better than sponges in almost every way because sponges are disgusting. You can make them in colors that match the recipient’s kitchen decor and even use natural dyes to dye them if you want. They’re a fun and simple knitting project.

The covered buttons can be used to make earrings as well! All you’d have to do is snip off the back button portion (the loopy metal bit) and glue on earring backings! (Those can be found at most craft stores)! Now I have an idea to make some more gifts! Thank you!!
  • I'm doing some scrunchies to top off a friends gift, I don't think they make a gift on itself, but if you are looking just for a little something or pairing it with a main gift they are pretty inexpensive and easy to make (you can even handsew them) and turn out pretty cute. Last christmas I did a macramé bracelet for my cousin and same thing, easy, inexpensive and turns out quite cute.

Annika Victoria: if you haven't learned crochet already and you're trying to make something for Christmas, don't start now, you don't have time. Me: ...damn.
  • @MAashChick
If you don't know how to crochet yet, you don't have time to learn now, is a whole mood.
  • @rebsb4706
I.... I think crochet actually makes sense now. Mercy on me. Thank you so much!!!
  • @liseperault7862
Thank you so much! I crocheted the leaf with chunky yarn to make decorative coasters, it's a perfect match with my jars of mugcake mix!

If you don't want to buy a whole ball of yarn for the earrings, you can also use embroidery floss :) they'll be a bit smaller but that can also be fun! And the Daiso crochet hooks are amazing quality and so comfortable to work with!

Praying that Australia will soon cool down. ❤️
  • Last minute sewing gifts for everyone! You get a pencil case, you get a makeup case...everybody gets a case lmao
  • @roo288
The crocheted leaves could also be little chili peppers! 🌶 lovely ideas 💜
  • I've made most of my Christmas presents for my family this year and I'm super hecking proud because I made clothes that will last using historical stitches such as felling! PS: now I want to learn crochet...
  • @kszewczuk8144
You can often slip a hobby pin (hair grip) into the shank of a covered button to make a cute hair clip!!! (Sometimes the hole isn't big enough though, so he sure to check first if you intend to make a hair clip!)

I don't know how to express to you just how much I LOVED this video. Teacher Annika is my new favorite Annika. I already had some homemade gifts planned out, but I honestly might scrap a few of them to try these out. So cute!!! Both the projects!!! And YOU!!! god i sound like a grandma
  • I really appreciate that these are actual DIY gifts, not a montage of gift baskets.
  • @WigglyTuffStuff
Those findings are called jump rings. Please don't use your fingernails to open them... your nails will break! I've found that fingernail clippers in one hand and tweezers in the other will do the job in a bind.
  • And I'm watching this instead of actually finishing Christmas gifts... Definitely good to get some inspiration ahead of time! Edit: you could make cute chili peppers with the earrings using red yarn!
  • @winterinbloom
I'm DIYing a lot of presents this year too. Making tea towels, scrunchies, knitting and crocheting ear warmer headbands, and I knit some relatively fast pillow covers for travel sized pillows in a chunky chenille for my grandparents. Today I have half a day's break and then I have to get back to it!
