Bill Cipher VS Discord (Gravity Falls VS My Little Pony) | DEATH BATTLE!

Fun Fact: If you play this battle’s song “Discordant Decipher” in reverse, there’s a reversed message that says. “Why are you listening to this part backwards? Don’t tell me you’re some kind of tinfoiler. You do know the song doesn’t decide who wins, right?”

I gotta say, this is probably the only death battles where "Running the data through ALL possibilities" would actually be impossible.

14:15 Super small detail that I loved: after Discord buries Bill under all those desserts, it ends with a cherry on top coupled with the classic "ding" sound effect. When it cuts back to Discord, what is he holding? A desk bell. This man supplied his own sound effects.

So Boomstick went from stereotypically hating MLP to warming up to it via his daughter? That's some of the most wholesome character development I've seen :)

If you pay attention, after Bill and Discord leave the puppet bubble, the weirdness bubbles are all gone. This is a subtle hint that Discord transported Bill out of Equestria

Bill reaching into his own eye to grab discord was an animation masterpiece

“Allegedly lost a drinking contest to Sideways from Transformers” Now THAT is an obscure bit of trivia. That tidbit came from Sideways in a relatively obscure corner of Transformers lore, not MLP. I’m impressed with the research here.

I like how they did effectively give the win to both of them. In that Bill can't cross dimensional barriers but Discord can, and that would normally decide a battle. But at the same time the rules of Death Battle explicitly require a fatality, so Battle Field Removal would not work. So the idea to have Bill kill Discord but Discord BFR him was very well thought out.

For people wondering what Bill Cypher said at the end, he said “Reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, buy gold, bye!”

This fight's ending was kind of genius, actually. Really think about it; Discord probably knew he would lose the fight. Hence why he left that letter behind for the others. And Bill was so hyperfocused on killing Discord, who could still keep up using his tricks, that he never realized that the two of them had left Equestria. Discord dies at the end, yes. But by the endcard's own admission, as long as chaos still exists, Discord will come back, even if it's not quick enough to continue the battle. So what did he do? He traps Bill back in his home dimension. Bill won, sure. But nobody likes to see the bad guy get the last laugh, right?

Whatever you paid the animators for this fight, it's not enough. You've really outdone yourselves this time.

I love that this feels more like the end of crossover event rather than a random fight between the two.

Okay, but Discord sacrificing himself to save everyone is 100% in-character. I love it.

Rule 1: if Bill Cipher claims he can see everything chances are he's about to get humbled in some way even if he does end up killing his opponent

This death battle seams more like the conclusion to a crossover event than a fan animation on YouTube.

You could say that Discord actually did teach Bill a lesson in friendship. There are some things that are worth sacrificing for....

I really love the double meaning in Discord "I've seen your show, and I know how you die." It makes everyone think he's talking about him being destroyed inside a mind... yet the truer meaning is about someone sacrificing himself for those he loves - something the selfish Bill, despite all his foreknowledge, would never expect or see coming.

That, "Oh, Bill" at the end always gets me every time I watch this. The line was really well delivered.

You could say Discord had "twists and turns in his master plan to send Bill Cipher back where he began."
