Concord is the next big live service from Sony, but given how little buzz there is for it, given how unfinished some core aspects feel and given how high that $40 buy-in is, Concord feels like its sleep walking into its fate as the next live service cautionary tale.

  • "Over-priced and Unready". Perfectly sums up the AAA gaming industry.
  • @T0asty-
I clicked cause I had no idea what concord was. Genuinely forgot Sony made a hero shooter.
  • @joeallen3388
It feels like Sony is an old man asking other old men what the kids like now days.
  • I still don't understand why they're going so heavy on story in a live service game that will inevitably die, meaning all their work will disappear for those who care; and for those who don't, they'll just scream at the one person who wants to watch a cutscene until they vote to skip it. If you're so focused on story, then just make some, any kind of single player offline mode. It could just be a botmatch with cutscenes even, at least it would give the story some kind of lasting impact or legacy.
  • @danbeforetime
The passive buffs don't actually apply to the whole team. They apply only to YOUR entire roster. So if you pick a reload buff first, every subsequent character you chose will have faster reload. Which makes it even more convoluted than you describe.
  • @PlasmaPony
It might be petty but something that bugged the hell out of me was the characters having their little quip and pose every time you respawn. I was playing the chick in the hazmat suit one map and having to keep hearing “hear comes to expert *tap tap*” as I kept dying while trying to learn the mechanics was so aggravating. Even my wife who was just hanging out in the room reading was getting annoyed hearing the same barks over and over. It’s a little thing that just wore me down

Ralph's track record of calling games unready for launch, with those games proceeding to fail disastrously due to launching in an unfinished state, is pretty spot-on. I hope the studio hears this, listens and pivots quickly.
  • @LisaAmp-e3w
I tried not to laugh when you called that character a little "fucked up mushroom freak." So good. I will never play this game but I still wanted to watch anyways. I'm glad I did.
  • @MattyBmemes
Not a chance in hell they keep up that story cadence. Not even fortnite can keep up that much story production on their live service pvp game
  • @fragr33f74
Temu Guardians of the Galaxy is crazy 😂😂😂
  • @buckshotr6
looks like a game Michaels kid would play in gta 5
  • @XAltrus
It really feels like they slept through the importance of unique silhouettes in Character Design class.
  • @SerPodrick
With the failure of Overwatch 2's PvE mode, Concord could have carved out its place with PvE as a way to justify $40 pricepoint
  • @JONATHANP1619
Imagine working years on a project and when you present it to the public, no one cares about it. The moral must be so low.
  • @DawnOfTheOzz
Every design philosophy and mechanic makes me think that the devs had a couple of men in suits on their team, constantly looking over their shoulders, making changes for them and always repeating, "But the chart says..."
  • "Story-based 5v5 multiplayer hero shooter" sounds exactly like a word soup combo that only "market analysts" could come up with. You know, the people that think Game Design means "How the characters look". So from the get-go it reeks of being mandated by the upper management, not from some actual idea or passion.
  • Imagine cannon balling into the Hero shooter pool after Overwatch has been pissing and shitting in it for almost a decade.
