It's me again! As usual, I want to give a big thank you to Aaron for the masterful composition, and to Bee for the beautiful artwork. You two are the best. The idea behind this track was not "who would win in a fight," but instead, "what if these two were to perform together?" And I must say, the instrumentation does an excellent job of capturing it. All of Vivy's matchups that I've seen tend to focus almost entirely on her role in the Singularity Project and ignoring her musical career. This matchup is mostly the opposite, as you'll see in a second with the connections: These two talented young ladies share the goals of making everyone happy through the power of music, and to sing (and dance) with all their hearts. Their primary goals get sidelined by them having to stop the apocalypse. At the very end, they write their own original songs based on their experiences and become the greatest superstars in the world. Is it the deepest, most complex matchup? No. Is it a lot of fun? Definitely, and that's why I love it. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed this musical masterpiece. I'll see you again for the main event ;)

An Octopath Traveler track?! I'm happy there's people that know of the epic of Octopath Traveler.
  • Octopath? Hell Yes! I hope more people commission tracks from that series it has so many great tracks to take inspiration from.

Vivy getting a track was NOT something I expected, but love anyway, Fluorite Eye's Song is seriously underrated

A franchise I don't know VS a franchise I only know by name. Well, I can't complain given those have often resulted in really nice songs. And is this one an exception ? I'd say not for the most part. For one I quite appreciate the dynamic of the track; as the commissioner stated, the track really does feel like a musical performance more so than a battle song. And I'd say that's really nice. I mean, of course it still fits as a battle track but it works even better as the aforementioned. Given, I'm even less well versed in dance than I am in music as a whole so I can't exactly describe what each movement of the song is supposed to represent exactly but it doesn't change the fact that it works nicely how it is. And, from my very limited understanding of dance music, this one actually fits too as it has the different tones and rhythms fitting of that. Jumping the gun a bit but it's the segment where it's the most notable so I'll use the ending starting at 3:03 as an example: in it, the percussions have a distinct rhythm and tempo to them that's perfectly fitting of a classical dance song, almost makes it feel like an opera track, even more so in how it ends but I'll come back to that later. Because first I want to talk about the sheer progression the track has. As I stated before, the track really feels like a musical performance and one of the main things that make it feel like that is the instrumental progression it has. One thing to note is that it almost only uses "classical" instruments such as violins and piano with the electric guitar only being there as a very faint supporting instrument (in fact, I wonder if this track would have rendered better if it outright didn't have an electric guitar ? Would have felt even more unique for sure). Notably I really like the fact that the track only starts with a few instruments and progressively picks up more and more of them as it goes, really makes it feel as if the encounter between the two starts in a regular fantasy tavern where you'd have a few bards playing music and only after the two fully captivate the surrounding audience does every bard in the surrounding area start playing for them. It gives the track scale but not in the same way that a regular battle song would, here it instead feels as if the musical performance is just gaining more traction and attracting more people, causing it naturally increase in scale as more people accompany those two either as spectators or supporting instruments. Now going back to what I was saying earlier I do want to note the ending once again because it's an especially notable segment to me. First because it's a semi-reprise of the 1:40-1:57 but with a much more powerful and energetic feeling to it which is good in of itself but also because, as said before, it is the epitome of the track's dynamic of feeling like a musical performance. In this segment you get almost every single instrument playing in conjunction with one another to create, as said, a very powerful and energetic feeling but one that doesn't feel antagonistic or brutal in the slightest, instead it just feels like the climax to a performance with every artist involved in it giving it their all for one last segment that serves as a grand final for both main characters to give out their best showcase to. It feels extremely fluid and most definitely feels like a dance duet between the two (of what dance ? I couldn't tell, the only classical dance tempo I know somewhat is the Valse and that isn't it) which helps the track stand out a lot along with giving it tons of personality that's more than appreciated. I'll also note the way the song ends at 3:38 with a singular powerful and uplifting note from all instruments that's pretty much the defacto note you'd hear in an actual musical score IRL so needless to say that final note on its own is a great addition to the song. Overall this track is really interesting and makes me wish that I knew more about musical theory and the characters as a whole. I mean, I did look up a few things while writing this so congrats on making me actually learn stuff but in general I feel like someone with more knowledge of both those things will appreciate the song even more than I did. And given I quite liked the song, that's saying something. This track not only feels unique and catchy but it also perfectly fits what it's going for and even if I can't grasp even half of what it's trying to convey I feel like I still got a lot from listening to it while writing this which is a great thing, proof that this track is really well written. Now that I think about it, given the context I do wonder if this track will receive a vocal version ? Not that it needs it, it already is plenty good as it is but it would most definitely fit the characters from what I've read of them. Regardless, amazing job as always with this.

Octopath Traveler fans in the comments, does Vivy stand any chance against Agena in this theoretical battle? (Asking as a fan of the anime Vivy is from, who is hoping that she isn’t completely reduced to scrap metal in this possible fight)
