Even when explained chronologically, the whole timeline is still messy af.

The timeline is rough. That being said Future Past and Logan are masterworks.

I thought the whole point of X-Men: Days of Future Past was to change the entire timeline that we already thought we knew. So everything after Days of Future past is different from the original X-men movies.
