Xerox Shooting 20 Years Later Mini Documentary

Published 2019-11-04
Nov. 2, 1999 started out normal enough.

At the Xerox building in Honolulu that Tuesday, workers arrived as usual and headed to their desks.

Then just after 8 a.m., one of their coworkers ― Byran Uyesugi ― walked in and opened fire with a 9 mm handgun.

By the time the shooting stopped, seven people were dead.

Saturday marks 20 years since that worst mass shooting in Hawaii history, and disbelief over the scale of carnage and heartache Uyesugi left in his path still remain.

I had heard that those employees were HARRASSING him daily and Human Resources should have been notified about workplace harrassment.

I was a footman in D-5 that day & responded from out of sector. One of the most traumatic scenes I've ever witnessed during my career. Call first came in as a drop 911 call and a couple Sector 3 guys responded. Shortly after a flood of calls came in & the whole district responded. When I drive down Nimitz Highway nowadays, going westbound, I still take a peek over there and it reminds me of the worst workplace violence act in Hawaii's history. It was unheard of during those times. Gold Bless.
