Phillies Win the World Series breaking "the curse" of 25 years since the city has won a Championship (Last major sports team, the 76'ers in 1983) *Local underdogs Wildcats of Villanova University pulled off one of the biggest upsets in NCAA history beating Georgetown in 1985. That was a pretty big deal for Philly.
