Isaac: I have no fear of Death. It always sounded peaceful to me. Death: YOU GOPPING LITTLE SHIT

1:27 Hearing the embodiment of death say “That’s weirdly fucked up” is an enlightening experience.
  • “He will be a vampire with his own screaming wife trapped inside him, he will be deranged his rage will know no bounds. There will be murder on a scale never before seen” “It’s so beautiful, let go Dracula, let go, go insane” I like to imagine that there was a way to bring just Dracula back, but Death wanted the wife as well just so there will be more murder. He takes such sick pleasure out of seeing Dracula in a tormented form

Just a reminder that Issac blocked Death from calling him on a magic mirror.

Something interesting is that throughout the season several characters had brought up just how bad Varney smelled. Well now it's apparent. He literally smelled like Death.
  • The interesting part is: Even after the reveal, the things Varney was critcised for aren't invalidated. Yes in the end, he was the one pulling the strings and manipulated everyone else while they thought they were in charge, the one thing everyone disdaine Varney for still stands: That he let others do the work and is simply reaping the reward. And Death admits it here. He can't bring Dracula back. He can't unleash death and murder like never to be seen before by himself. He needs others to do it. And as Isaac demonstrated: All you need to do is rejecting him and there would be little he could do about. That's why he apealed on greed and pride of those around him. If Death would have tried to gather the people as, well Death or even as some mighty Vampire Lord, there would been no question that he would be in charge and sooner or later followers would have questioned why and for what purpose he wanted to revive Dracula and why he couldn't do it himself. But Varney? Varney is pathetic. Of course he want's to revive Dracula to reap the reward of it. Of course he can't do himself. He knows where to find what we need but didn't take it? Well he is just to weak to get it himself Death used the pathetic mask of Varney in order to hide how little he himself could actually do.
  • Fun Fact: Varney the Vampire, was a serial gothic horror 'Penny Dreadful' character, published 1845-1847. The actual title was 'Feast of Blood', starring Sir Francis Varney. Varney is the first vampire described as having fangs. Varney dies several times but keeps getting brought back by others. Many of the vampire tropes associated with Bram Stokers Dracula are, according to his own notes, taken largely from Varney's stories.

When the joke character ends up being the final boss.

"Dont you think thats weirdly fucked up" made me laugh so hard. Hes like an ancient immortal being, why does he talk like a shitposter on social media

I actually like that this version of death, isn't actually the embodiment of death. But is essentially a glorified vampiric creature who claimed the title for shits and giggles. It fits into his bottom feeder persona and acts as a sort of inversion to the typical portrayals of death we've grown accustomed to.

I love that Trevor was the first person that actually “knew” him after he’d been asking all season if people had heard of him before

It immediately clicked for me why Varney was never scared nor even impressed during the entire season.

Death is easily my favorite character this season. "Only human hands can reach into Hell. Isn't that weirdly fucked up?"
  • "Don't you think that's weirdly fucked up?" It's those dips straight back down into total mortal cynicism that prevents him from being so cliche as to sink the entire series and instead makes him one of the best parts of the whole series.
  • Each villains motivations for trying to kill and/or conquer humanity: Dracula: "I want to wipe them out for killing my wife." Isaac: "I want them to suffer as they made me suffer my whole life." Hector: "I want them culled so they can no longer hurt anyone or anything." Carmilla: "I want to rule them like an empress to stick it to all the stupid evil men who were always taking things from me." Death: "It'll be fun."

“You gopping little shit” ...Did the ominous primordial being in the room just say that?
  • @thebiss1846
Death: "Don't you think that's weirdly fucked up?" Seriously, this is a meme in the making right there. Death seeing something & saying that.

This is hands down one of the very best villain twists I've ever seen. Instead of hiding the villain under the guise of a hero or bystander, hide him in plain sight, under the guise of an incompetent, insecure, attention-hungry bastard, who gently pushes everyone to do what he needs while letting them feel like they're in charge. It's masterful really.

When Varney transformed into The Alchemist, I SCREAMED. I honestly thought that Saint Germain was the main villain of the finale.
