If you want to give yourself a real presence on the road, one of the best ways to do this is to get your hands on a Range Rover extended-wheelbase SV.

However, there’s a problem - the new Range Rover comes with a pretty hefty price tag of around £200,000! So if it’s too steep for you, would you be better off going for a 2004 Range Rover Autobiography, that cost just £2,000?

Well, it’s time to find out! So let’s take a look at what you get with each car.

Starting with the new Range Rover, it looks super sleek from the outside. It comes with a chrome effect on the grille, huge 23-inch alloy wheels, and a few smart features such as pop-out door handles! Step inside and it just exudes luxury, with the entire cabin covered in leather and a huge infotainment screen and digital dial system. This edition also comes with the executive class dual rear seats, which recline and are super comfortable!

When it comes to engine choices, the one we have here is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can deliver 530hp. However, there are also two plug-in hybrid editions available.

In terms of the old Range Rover, it's clearly related to the newer car, although it has a much more boxy design. It’s clearly been well used, with a couple of bumps and spots of rust, but it still looks pretty smart. The interior has also held up relatively well, although the leather on the steering wheel doesn’t look the best, and some of the mod-cons no longer work - but it’s still not bad for a car with over 170,000 miles on the clock!

Naturally, it’s also down on power, with its 4.4-litre naturally-aspirated V8 delivering 286hp.

So what do you think - will the car that is 100x the price of the classic Range Rover win it? Or will the old edition prove to be better value for money? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Would have liked to have seen 3 versions; £200,000, £20,000 and £2,000.

The new one certainly isn't worth 100 times more than the old one.. nice to put things into perspective.

That L322 is testament to not how old a car is or how many miles it's done, but who has owned it and kept it well maintained.

£2k for a year's driving seems a good deal. The old RR still looks pretty comfortable. I'd take the old RR and £198k, rather than the new one, in the unlikely event of such a choice being offered.

for all the dudes, trying to impress women with such cars: they don’t see the difference, until they sit inside. So buy the cheaper one

I love the blue range rover ... why... well, because it used to be my husbands car back in 2015! I'm glad to see it's still going well. It was always my favourite 😍

Please don't kill this one in an off-roading challenge. You can see this one has had some love and has plenty of life left in it! Killing it would be sacrilege

Going to be interesting to see how all this tech works in 20 years, imagine that car could be £2k in 20 years 😄

I'd love to see the old one detailed, I reckon it would come up a treat!

You know... I am actually quite impressed with the old one. Love the style and it seems to be in good shape. Over 170k miles (which is approaching 300k kilometers) is nothing to sneeze at.

“Everything is controlled by knobs”….. yes, in a Range Rover very probably! 😂
  • I have a old L322 4.4TdV8 2012, ZF gear box, service it regularly myself and it drives like new and goes where most can not even begin 👍

Please more of this Matt. Love this style of video. It’s a nice change from the drag races. Much love ❤

The 2k one actually looks better . Love the body style of it

Come back in 20 years and see how the new one fairs. Not so well I would imagine

Love the film. £2k for an Autobiography is dirt cheap. The new RR is my dream car but £200k is crazy money

Flat battery happens all the time on the l322, I always use the kill switch for the battery under the bonnet, prevents thefts too
