On today's episode of Car Trek, AutoTempest challenged the guys to test out each other's cars and tally up everything wrong with them. Ed's Aston Martin V12 Vanquish needs more pre-flight checks than the space shuttle, Tyler's CL65AMG is perfect except for some very unusual issues, and Freddy has TOTALLY REDEEMED HIMSELF and brought the Maserati back to life. Unfortunately it's still as rough around the edges as it was. Then the guys get their cars appraised by John Ficarra, an experience none of them will ever forget...or want to remember.

Oddly enough, their picks would fit right into to their respective channel. Tavarish would be wrenching every day, Hoovie would be loosing money and Ed would be telling a great story about a car.

You can tell Ed is having so much fun doing these episodes, he's grinning like a kid the whole time. You guys all have good comedic timing and delivery, I hope this show is a big success.

Honestly--and I mean this as someone who watched every single series of the Clarkson/Hammond/May era of Top Gear--a few more of these under your belt, and I think you'll have yourselves a series I would watch just as enthusiastically as I used to watch Top Gear. Every series with multiple hosts takes a few seasons for a real, natural chemistry to develop that can be scripted, but doesn't feel scripted, so there are definitely points where it's like "Okay, yeah, they're clearly trying a little too hard for the Top Gear thing," but it's been infinitely more successful in just two CarTrek "specials" than the entirety of American Top Gear.
