Luckily Dr.Eggman destroyed the moon with his super laser piss, so none of this ever happened
  • @DIABETOR
Whenever he says “this is one of the moon’s ploys” I think of somebody’s grandpa watching local 58 on the tv at 3am and saying “what’s that pesky moon up to this time?”

Love how Wendi shows you the clip that gives you nightmares before he warns you it gives you nightmares
  • @mortalmike5696
Hey Wendigoon, fun fact: HP Lovecraft had a short story called "The Moon" where he just describes how much he hates the moon.

"as he lays down, this happens" call of duty mobile ad plays
  • The skeleton guy on children’s show turning into a skeleton with no clothes in the span of 2 frames made me cackle

The true terror of Local58 is that not even the cameraman is immune to anything, as seen in Skywatching

    ‘Moon’s hatching’ ‘W-What?’ Cocks gun ‘Moon’s hatching’

9:15 watch the moon. It is in the foreground, not the background- the tree is behind the moon. Creepy as shit

After “Real Sleep” I saw faces everywhere in the static for the rest of the series. I still can’t tell if it’s my mind or if it’s vaguely there for us to pick up on.

"be careful because this does work" is the most terrifying thing
  • This is literally my favorite type of horror but also one of my strongest fears... just it being absolutely inescapable, almost undeterminable, and just the style of creepiness it gives off.
  • I watched "Real Sleep" after watching this. I didn't have a nightmare in the classic sense where something terrifying was out to get me, but more like the dream I had left me extremely uneasy and disassociated upon waking up. Almost when you're tripping and the trip goes bad and you have to keep telling yourself "everything is alright" and your one step away from a panic attack. So yeah. Be careful.

They don't broadcast stuff like this because some people actually believe it and might follow through with the plan. The War of the Worlds broadcast kind of put a stop those fun pranks. When they made Gilligan's Island, there were actually people trying to set up a rescue mission.
  • I love the horror that isn’t necessarily scary or makes you jump but the stuff that just leaves you unsettled
  • It dawned on me that the reason why the moon would wish to use terror is because fear is the only thing that keeps you awake. Real Sleep is the implementation of the idea that sleep is useless so that way you always have the likelihood of seeing the moon. Such as the disassociation experiment, an experiment to keep you from sleeping due to the fear one has from nightmares. The moon is only visible when the Earth has made its daily rotation into night, it would be easy to combat such a creature since you just have to avoid it by sleeping in the dark. The moon therefore would try to make people not sleep as much as possible and as such, create a more subservient or broken people. It obviously works, cause now I don’t know if I can sleep. God Bless Horror

Local 58 is great, but if there's one thing i absolutely despise, it's real sleep. The idea of becoming unable to properly recognize or identify faces or facial features puts me into a existential panic. What if one day i just wake up, and talk to my mother, only for me to stop recognizing her has my mother, another human, but rather a faceless being to disassociate from. Can't stand thinking about that.
  • Local 58 is so scary to me, Simply due to the fact that it feels like it should be safe. It's public access television. Everyone has woken up in the middle of the night to see something on their television. But it shouldn't be scary, it should be comforting. It's taken something nostalgic and safe and flipped it on its head.

One of my favorite things about Real Sleep is one of the subliminal messages is “Your home has another door.” They aren’t trying to give you dreamless sleep, they’re trying to make it psychologically impossible to sleep.
