Welcome to the most underpowered overpowered build imaginable! p.s. Bethesda removed some of the trader chests so now I am very annoyed Also reasons why unarmed sucks: - Does Not Scale With level - Is not buffed by other equipment - Is only buffed by 2 meds - Is Very Slow - Has no weight or impact - The Lowest DPS in the entire game - Enemies will runaway constantly (Unlike in skyrim) - Requires you to break every other aspect of the game to make it viable

    I love perfectly balanced gameplay.

The secret to a really great melee build in this game is crouching. Once you knock the enemy down, crouch and then your attacks become stealth attacks (since they're stunned they can't see you) and suddenly you're doing x 2 dmg. It will also let you start working up the stealth skills, which get stupidly good and stacks really well with a fisticuffs spacer build

This unarmed gameplay really brings me back to Morrowind where you have to punch your enemy for 15 minutes, while they lie crying on the ground and are unable to fight back, just to kill them. Bethesda games truly never change.
  • I love how Howard did the same mistake again after 10 years.this guy will never learn to hide chests

New Todd Howard game = Always good content and perfectly balanced game with no exploits
  • @Konpekikaminari
I think it speaks volumes that an "officially" supported playstyle (as in, one backed up by in-game skills/mechanics) requires all this exploitation to be almost servicable
  • @lecygnenoir4313
What an interesting combo. While you're doing an unarmed build, the enemies are doing an unharmed build.
  • @Ahlurglgr
I really hoped that "unarmed only" would also apply to space battles

Unfortunately, they patched the chests out some time ago. I don't understand why they left the dawnstar chest alone for 13 years but patched the starfield chests after 3 weeks.
  • It's as if Todd didn't expect people to actually try unarmed builds.
  • @TundraCrow
I get that with the limits of the creation engine they have to use the chests to hold shop inventory, but why wouldn't they think to put them lower under the map? Or in some asset box only with the use of Dev magic. At that this point they should be cheeky and put custom signs posts near them that read: 'Player please don't steal from this.'

If you can read this, have a great, spiffing day

The cutter (mining laser) is one of the most op weapons in game. You see with the laser perks maxed out, you have a chance to set enemies on fire. Now you would think that the cutter counts as one hit, but ut does not it counts as a few hundred hits / second, so you get the burning debuff on enemies really fast, and because the burning debuff takes a set percentage points/ tick ohhhh and it does stack my tea drinking friends, you can kill terrormorphs in a few seconds, and whabam, there you go, one of the most perfectly balanced weapons in the game. You’re welcome 😁😈
  • @AutarchKade
My favorite is that when you knock them down, they won't get up until you hit them again. So you can knock each enemy down and have a roomful of bad guys laying around forever.

The most baffling thing about unarmed combat in this game, is that there are a plethora of perks dedicated entirely to it, yet it is still godawful compared to everything else. Like I could understand if it was a weak mechanic that became strong once you had all or most of the perks, but it just remains bad the entire time AND you sunk a ton of points into some useless skills.
  • @mrben6573
The best unarmed RPG build I've encountered is in Daggerfall (Unity). In that game you need certain weapon materials to defeat certain enemies. A regular iron weapon won't defeat certain supernatural enemies, for instance. But your fists can defeat anything. And they get very powerful, and very fast. By the time your agility is maxed out you're basically a cracked out kung fu master blitzing through the hallways and rapid fire punching any and all enemies to death. It's magnificent.
  • @joeldoxtator9804
Being able to punch faster with your guard up is unironically the most realistic part of all of this.
  • @noodles3559
For unarmed, try investing in stealth aswell for the 8x damage mutipler on melee sneak attacks.
