Akira Yamaoka is such a wizard at gaming soundtracks. The music from Silent Hill 2 and 3 is basically some of the best ever made.
  • It's not surprising to me that there wouldn't really be anything else to see in this game. SH2 was made with artistic and technical precision that they knew exactly what you would need to see to get the full effect. Brilliant stuff.

Actually the prisoner monsters are there, they’re invisible. If you shoot them, James aims at them and I think, if I remember right, they spew blood and they even cry out in pain and fall over as well
  • @DarthFennec
"Unfortunately there are no monsters in the jail cells, it's all just ambiance noise." Um ... I think that's wrong. There are two invisible monsters in the cells making noises, and you can shoot them through the bars and kill them.

THANK YOU FOR LOOKING THE CAR, I've been wanting to see that for YEARS! Great job on this episode dude, you found so many things I've been dying to see for foreeevvveerrrrrrrrrr
  • I remember being younger and staying up with my mom playing this and I remember the one monster under the white van and she passed by it and it comes crawling out screeching and my mom threw the remote at me screaming

Just here to say that SH2 is one of the finest things mankind created.

speaking of jump scares have you ever found something out of bounds that has genuinely freaked you out?
  • As an animation major, let me answer some questions about why stuff looks jank with different angles. -The purple and black textures are errors from them not being found, or read properly, so that could've been your game, the emulator, or on the devs side trying to cut corners (don't blame em!) -The reason Mary flips the fuck out after she walks up the staircase is because animators make a walk cycle using various key frames, with fluid detail in between every key frame, but what they end up doing is just looping a walk animation so it can be played over and over again. However, when you mess up the distance the feet move in a walk cycle and you stretch it for too long, the body will contort (search walk cycles video games if you're interested on that). ^This also why Pyramid head just sinks into the floor. They just keep the loop going until he is far out of camera , then despawn him. -Mary's face is stuck in that stupid pose on 13:43 is because that is her "default" face pose for when your gonna fuck around with it and possibly animate some stuff with it. They just loaded a default face because like Shesez said, no one will really see it. If you do end up reading this Shezes, I'm curious of why you didn't boundary break the cutscene were pyramid head is having his fun? There's some theories that he's trying to shove it down the drain, or mocking the sight of murder (try to make James feel guilty) Other than that amazing content! Please do this for MGS3 Snake eater! It's easily one of the best games of all time!

Thank you for not putting in jump scares! I'm easily startled, and considered skipping this episode since the subject is a horror game. Was very happy to see the note at the start.

This is my favorite horror game of all time. We need more horror games like this then more Amnesia clones or jumpscare fests where nothing actually tries to kill you and there's no game over. This game had creepy sound, monster, and level design that always kept you on your toes. You could actually fight back, but in the higher difficulties they're no pushovers so it might be a better idea to run from them. The story was surreal and full of twists. This game was true psychological horror, something we don't see done right anymore.
  • @Servbot42
At 13:06 there IS a monster in one of the jail cells but it has no textures. You can shoot it and blood spurts out of thin air. It even has a death growl.
  • @davidwilson6577
According to the director (I think, maybe just the art director?) James' wife Mary is actually in the back seat. Whether she's in the trunk or the back seat, it's 100% that James took her body with him to Silent Hill.
  • @JovialEclipse
Aw man, if we can get Silent Hill 4 boundary break, I will flip.
  • Even after so many years, this still ranks as one of my favorite psychological games. This game really played a mind f**k on me, and I still am learning things about Eddie, Maria, Laura, Angela, James, and Mary this many years after playing it.
