The first time I saw Lizzo perform this song on SNL I broke down crying when she said “how could you throw stones if you ain’t been through her pain?” because it’s so damn real. I spent my childhood in a cold and unloving foster home where I was never told I was special. I’ve made some undesirable choices in my past out of necessity for survival that I’ll never be able to take back, and at this point in my life I feel like so many people judge me for my past or for who they think I am based on a persona on the internet. I’ve come so far in my life now from where I was, but I really am used to feeling alone and at times I fall back into that place of feeling inferior and judged and misunderstood. This song is incredibly powerful and it truly makes me remember that I’m not what I’ve been through and the mean shit people comment on social media isn’t a reflection of me at all. I AM SPECIAL 💗💗💗

Special is something to hold on and listen to. Lizzo, thank you for everything of making this song. I struggled to be me because I'm gay and I'm living diagnosed with Autism called Aspergers. I learn to embrace the weirdness and embrace loving myself and others and live my life, the SPECIAL way that I am me just like you and everyone loving you and your songs. THANK YOU LIZZO!
