Be aware of the following rules before posting comments:
- Please do not post summaries of the video in the comments - it damages retention on the video and YouTube is less likely to promote it (these videos cost me a lot of money to produce).

Critiques of my work are welcome! Please be aware of the following notes & rules before submitting critique:

Be mindful that this content is not all encompassing on the subject at hand and is self-limited for brevity to reach a wider audience. Also, be aware that I receive hundreds of YouTube comments per day, so the only way your critique can be considered is if you follow the steps outlined below. Finally, YouTube auto-deletes links, so I do not see most comments with links attached.

RULES:
If your comment is rude, you will be banned.
If your comment is not about the studies/topics at hand (i.e. extending to other outcomes not discussed) or offers critique with no scientific basis, it is unlikely to receive a response.

If you can follow these rules, I will try to address your critique and if there is merit, I will add an AMENDMENT to the content in question and pin it so everyone can see it (thank you!).

Every edible item has a study that says it's bad for you and another study that says it's good for you.
  • @Pxinkill
The stress from thinking about this stuff is probably more harmful than just eating a whole food diet.

My father loved and ate bananas all his life and because of that he only lived to 101.
  • I feel like constantly worrying about small s**t like this is way more detrimental than Bananas could ever be lol
  • @DEM0NICUS
Rhonda just wants all the bananas to herself.
  • @thomcarr7021
Since eliminating the bananas, I've noticed a new calmer Blueberry State of Mind.
  • Of all the nutricionists, phds you can find in the internet, Physionic is the only one who justify scientificaly his statements, also has a sense of humor, he is like a chef in a mcdonalds.

The problem with the study is that it does not then show the deleterious effect of the bananas. Sure they reduce blood polyphenols, but now the lower polyphenols in blood specifically from the banana needs to be connected to an unwanted effect. Bananas have been shown to have an antiproliferative effect on breast and pancreatic cancer cells, for example. The resistant starch in bananas is also extremely beneficial to the gut, which can then have many systemic effects. Things just aren't that simple when dealing with the body. They need to measure the effect the bananas have on the brain and body, not just blood levels of polyphenols, that tells you absolutely nothing. Polyphenol oxidase has also been specifically researched as an alternative to cancer treatment. The messaging is very damaging, bananas are very nutritious, cheap, and widely available. It's not a good idea to start demonizing fruits for no reason. Messaging like this will certainly contribute to things like obesity and metabolic disorders, as people feel like they have no option but to choose the highly processed snack food because even if they do choose the healthier option, they don't think it's healthier. Rhonda Patrick brings up the fact that she uses avocados instead of bananas, but the problem is that avocados also have PPOs in them. Any fruit that rapidly browns has a large amount of PPOs in them.

Caring about the effect of combining banana with blueberries, is worse for your health then combining bananas and blueberries.

I’m allergic to bananas. Just here to trash-talk them.
  • The study actually said that the time the banana sat within the smoothie mixture had an effect, notably creating a half life of the polyphenols of about 10 minutes. They followed up the experiment by testing the polyphenol levels in the smoothie over time and found the levels were actually preserved within the first 10 minutes, and inferred that if you drink the banana smoothie within this time you may actually still get all the good effects of the blueberries, but they didn’t go so far as to retest this in the participants. I haven’t seen anyone comment on this part of the study in any of these videos yet.

I am from the Dominican Republic, we eat bananas but we also eat bananas' cousin plantains in massive amounts. In a recent survey of mental well being, the Dominican Republic came out on top as having the best mental well-being out of all countries surveyed. We do cook the plantains though so that could have an effect.
  • was literally laughing out loud — entertaining and educational, as always. Well done, Nic!

Banana with peanut butter 😊 PS. Eat bananas with some fat if ur worried about increasing your blood glucose levels, don't mix them with smoothies. Eat them separately they are healthy.
