I can definitely vouch for Azeliac acid. I’m a doctor and have prescribed this multiple times for acne, especially patients who are skin of colour and hyperpigmentation is an issue, and those who cannot tolerate things like Epiduo and BP which are so strong. I used BP once and broke out in a blotchy rash for like 2 weeks.

Azelaic acid has completely transformed my super sensitive acne prone skin. I used to get painful pimples around my chin that took weeks to heal. I tried TO’s version just to see what the ingredient would do for me. I noticed so much progress and eventually increased to a prescription 15%. It’s the only active my skin tolerates without getting dry while also effectively treating acne. Happy Thursday Kelly! 😊

Im currently using the cos de baha azelaic. Since the instructions are to use 1-2 drops, im always mixing it into another hydrating serum, which also improves the experience.

I have been using the Peach Slices Azalaic serum for the past 5 weeks and I'm loving it so surprised of what it's done in that amount of time . I added that and the Reveive ultimate EGF serum and loving them .

If you are like me and can't use pure Azelaic Acid, look into the more gentle derivative ingredient Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate (PAD). Normal AA makes me itch like crazy, but PAD is just fine. Geek & Gorgeous and Naturium have some good PAD serums!

I like The Ordinary Azelaic Acid. It spreads well & works on pimples within 2-3 days without drying the skin out.

I have been LOOKING for a skincare podcast!! going to binge tmr how did I not know this

I live in Europe and I've been using a Acmed Azelaic Acid 20% 75ml for about a year, no prescription needed. It has transformed my skin, I use it alongside tretinoin and had no issues. Very good quality product, I buy it online for 17 euro . I recommend that
  • @manuelgonzalez785
My favourite ingredient... I use it daily in my night time routine... it can be a little drying but it's worth it. I use it mainly for my redness and for the brightening properties....in my recent visit to the US i was able to buy the peach slices cream.... love it.... REVOX ( EU brand) also has a great product, very affordable and with a beter texture than The ordinary or the Cos de Baha..
  • @klaraAlb
ive been using azelaic acid since i was pregnant 2,5 years ago and i cannot stop using it! it clears my hyperpigmentation faster than any other ingredient that ive ever tied. i vouch the naturium one, had used 3 bottles of it. im currently using the cos de baha's one. the texture is not as elegant and not as quickly to heal an active acne. but still a great alternative!
  • @ceciliagovea
Kelly, I wanted to recommend a 15% azelaic acid serum available for purchase in the US! It's the Niche Beauty Lab Theramid's Azid. They also have a Ceramid serum and and a Copper Peptide serum that I am eyeing 👀

Minor correction. Salicylic acid does have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties too. Just wanted to mention this because for me personally SA was a game changer when I first started treating my acne and it's still the back bone of my acne routine. For some reason SA has always been super easy for me to tolerate, not the slightest little irritation ever. I do also use (prescription) azelaic acid but have to be mindful of my overall skin condition when doing so. If I have any existing irritation, excema, dry patches etc. azelaic acid tends to aggrevate the problem whereas salicylic acid doesn't. I'm aware this is usually the other way around and azelaic acid tends to be better tolerated. Just wanted to put this info here so as to remind folks to try and see what works for their individual skin; sometimes it is indeed something as old and boring as SA. 😃

Chemist Warehouse ships worldwide. And they have good price. For me it's ridiculous to spend so much on 10% AA while Azclear is available for so cheap, unless you can't tolerate prescription strength. My skin loves Azclear 15% much more than TO 10%.
  • I used the Ordinary as last step in my pm routine. In the morning A-Pad of Geek and gorgeous
  • @marionallen2222
Love your color story today the burgundy and browns in your make up is perfect together with your hair … I need to get me another fiddle since I’m more experienced now 🤣🤣🤣🪴🪴🪴 yours looks great!
  • Hi Kelly I have used azelaic acid for a few years now and get 15% finnacea from my doctor. However I started with the OTC 10% and recommend most people start at a lower strength, especially for rosacea. Initially this ingredient can cause a prickling sensation on the skin, but this dissipated as my skin acclimated. There are now 5% azelaic acid products available for those with super sensitive skin btw and this is also a good starting point. I worked my way up to 15% over time and have no sensitivity at all from the higher percentage nowadays. It really has helped my rosacea immensely and I wouldn’t be without it. It’s also safe during pregnancy for those struggling with acne when so many of the other acne ingredients are not. There is also an azelaic acid derivative often used in products and it too can be effective. Best wishes x

I get 20% Azelaic acid from Dermatica..It can be bought without a prescription in the US from them..I love it.
  • @briancxx3
I used The Ordinary's Azelaic Acid for a bit, but it seriously irritated my skin. I think the silicone texture wasn't suitable for my oily skin. I switched to Naturium's Azelaic Acid Emulsion 10% and have seen a huge improvement. My skin is no longer irritated, and it appears like it's actually working.
