STORY
Today, we take you on a mesmerizing journey into a small village where a house, once full of life, now stands as a silent witness to a bygone era. Welcome to the Cardoso house—a place frozen in time, holding onto the echoes of laughter and love from decades past.
Once the vibrant home of Maria and Adolfo and their four children—João, Pedro, Ana, and Sofia—this house was filled with the joyful sounds of family life and the playful barks of their beloved dogs, Tico and Pumba, but as the children grew up and ventured into the world, the bustling home began to quiet down.
In early 2005, tragedy struck. Maria passed away in January, and just a month later, Adolfo followed her. The loss of their parents left the siblings heartbroken and scattered, unable to keep the home alive. Over time, the house fell into disrepair, its bright past giving way to a sad present.
Join us as we step into this time capsule, where every room remains untouched since the last days of Adolfo and Maria. From family photos to old cars in the garage, everything is just as it was 20 years ago. We’ll explore the crumbling walls and the stories they hold, revealing a home where time stands still.
This is a tale you won’t forget, a real-life exploration straight out of a fairytale. Don’t miss out on this poignant and fascinating journey through the Cardoso family's history.

Life is a funny thing ? We all have to leave one day and we can't take our worldly possessions with us and we all end up just being photographs and memories but it's how we live our lives that count and I must agree with Leslie and Danny that Adulfo and Maria's love is still in that house, a wonderful documentary guys it bought tears to my eyes........keep up the great work you do and safe travels !😢

How terribly sad. Such beautiful memories and treasures left behind. I just can’t understand it.

I hope one of their relatives or their children somehow see this video and could comeback to this place just to recall their childhood memories about their roots. I believe back then this house was really really beautiful house.

I absolutely love how the brothers exclaimed with excitement when they saw the dog photo. They are definitely animals lovers. ❤

I set my notification. I usually take out time to watch every week. Lesley your voice and accent are mesmerizing! The care and love you have for your passion is so heartwarming ❤️ From Washington state

22:14 This somehow hits really hard. They must have loved their house a lot. I'm sure they wouldn't have liked to have it rot away like that. Wonder why nobody took care and why it was abandoned. Well, it's a very interesting time capsule. Thank you for sharing!
  • Love to watch your tours of all these homes but sometimes it makes me rather sad to see them just decaying and falling apart. Some of the items left are so beautiful and could still be useful to someone. So sad that the families left don't care to save a lot of these treasures.
  • It's sad to see so many beautiful things waste away 😢. I know of a house on one of the Azore islands who's owner left in 1930 to go to America. He left everything behind.
  • I just LOVE how you guys take such care in presenting these places and those that once lived in them. This couple had such LOVE for one another, that's why they passed within a few weeks of each other. The "Wedding Vows" declare that - "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE." They don't just say that.

The picture at 42:20 is of a young St Therese of Lisieux from France. Also the " lady" at the middle of the childrens beds is Our Lady Mary.

This home was full of love for sure. It was so beautiful the items left behind. The love you showed for the family was so evident all the way through. Thank you for sharing this lovely home.

  • I still see the beauty in this home! Thank you for sharing this story with us & showing this home so much love & respect! Love you guy’s! ❤️🤘👍
  • So sad that their children just left everything their parents worked so hard for to just decay...It does look like someone came in and went through things and left it trashed.....they were looking for something....so so so sad
