I read Man After Man decades ago, someone had put it online in an HTML format where you could actually click links to go to different pages in the contents. Such a wild book. I'm surprised the physical book is so expensive.

I have a wildlife encyclopedia with me, and I can see that Man After Man tried to emulate that very artstyle and vibe, which I really like. Some creatures in MaM are way too humanoid and uncanny, though, I hope that uncanny feel is what the artist was going for.

Like, the flat thing on their heads (or where their heads should be), and the way their face is sticking out the back...*upside down*... that's never explained, as far as I remember. I love the art, it correctly captures the sense of unease you would get if you saw human variants, that were just not quite right to what we "know" humans to look like.
