FC Barcelona have huge plans to sign both Nico Williams and Dani Olmo this summer. However, Barcelona's first offer for Dani Olmo was rejected by RB Leipzig. There are also multiple reports outlining Barcelona's attempt to land a new target as a CDM. Finally, Julian Alvarez has noted that he could leave Manchester City. • Imagine if Barcelona are able to sign Dani Olmo alongside Nico Williams. I doubt that would even happen because it depends on if they’re able to sell some valuable assets which would generate enough money and even if they’re able to do that, would they even be able to register him. Similar to Williams, I thought that they would activate his release clause and I understood that Barcelona didn’t want to pay 60 million and they wanted to pay an initial fee of 40 million and then additional fees of 20 million if he wins La Liga or the Champions League. If they’re at a rate in which they can’t afford him, they’re going to walk away from this transfer and overall they wouldn’t be a bad thing for them as you would rather save money to bolster other areas in the team. Every Barcelona fan knows that Williams is the priority that’s not up for debate and I know have injuries in midfield, but for me Olmo is more of a luxury signing than an actual need. He is an incredibly talented player who has performed at a high level for RB Leipzig and we all saw his excellence for the Spain national team at the EUROs in that number 10 role, but when everyone is healthy since they have Pedri Frenkie de Jong and Gavi recovering from injuries and they’re first team players when fit, they have a plethora of midfielders in their team and assuming they don’t get him they’ll be able to sign a CDM or rely on an academy player meaning that the team will be much more balanced. In that attacking midfield role he would offer a much different element and spark about their team that they don’t normally have. Barcelona’s biggest problem has been injuries and as good of a player Olmo is, they’re going to add another injury prone player to the team and that itself is a gamble. After the Williams signing, they have to be wise with any other transfer they’re going to make assess the financial situation, decide which players they need to offload and who they really need because in recent years, some of their transfer decisions haven’t been the best and they need to decide if they want to sign Olmo or go for another player who they need more than him.
  • Barcelona or Atletico Madrid assuming both teams sign him would be a great fit for Julian Alvarez and he needs to go to one of those teams. From his perspective, I don’t blame him for wanting to leave Manchester City I don’t think that anyone is surprised because he is too good to be sitting on the bench as on any team in the world, he’ll have a bigger role he’s so good. People who are looking at the stat that he’s played the most minutes out of any player on that team are failing to use context because from August to December he was playing a lot more regularly than ever before is because they had injuries and Pep had no choice but to play him even when he played he was being used out of position and towards the latter stages of the season, he was on the bench more than on the pitch and he knows his situation at the club and there’s no room for him in their best starting XI when everyone is healthy. As much as we criticize Erling Haaland for being one dimensional and his poor all around game, at the end of the day as a number 9, he’s guaranteed goals and he’s doing his job and as along as he’s on that team, there’s no debate as to who their first choice striker is. At the age of 24 someone who’s in his prime, as much as people like to focus on his trophy haul which is impressive by the way, he need to actually play consistently and Manchester City isn’t the club for his development. I don’t know if they can afford him since City aren’t going to sell him for cheap and another club could sign him, but Barcelona needs a striker like Alvarez on their team. Robert Lewandowksi isn’t getting any younger, they can’t rely on him forever, he has a couple more elite years in him, not only is he on the decline, his whooping salary is also an issue, I think I heard that Vitor Roque is already linked with a move to Saudi Arabia as it’s just not working out for him at Barcelona and if they’re really thinking about the long term, they should go for Alvarez even though he’s very expensive. He’s still only 24 years old meaning that they’ll have him for at least 7-8 years and while he isn’t an out and out striker, he’s more mobile and better suited to the system than Lewandowksi is and again they need a younger striker especially if they get rid of Roque.
  • @BarcaBasto
if wirtz is 90 on fifa. olmo is 85 and any point less or more that goes both ways
  • @IceCool97
Tell me one player in our current squad that is reliable when it comes to some kind of attacking mid position like Olmo is, let me tell you, its NONE, Pedri is injured all the time, when he plays his numbers aint something, Fermin is not so reliable, Gavi is not for that position, so yea, we need Olmo
  • @normaaltimo6412
Flick said he wants to trust some players from la macia and after nico and olmo they wanna swap a player with Merino
  • Due to the fact that Barcelona are in need of a CDM, I would have no issue if they sign N’Golo Kante even if they have him for a year or 2. Based off of his excellent performances at the EUROs for the most part of the tournament, he is still one of the best midfielders in the world and has proven that he’s too good to be playing in Saudi Arabia and that he should’ve stayed in Europe for a little longer since he has a couple more years left of top level football in him. He’s also been linked with a move back to the premier league which is another option for him, assuming he wants to still play at the highest level of European football and play in the champions league, he could consider going to Barcelona. They might sign him on a cut price deal or loan him out especially since they can’t cover up all of his wages, I mean he’s in Saudi Arabia getting paid a ridiculous amount of money and I get it he’s 33 years old and Barcelona don’t want to keep signing players who are short term solutions rather than players who’ll be beneficial for their future in the long term, if they potentially sign Kante, they’ll have a player who’s proven and has a lot of experience at this level and he’s someone who many players in that dressing room can look up to even if he has a quiet demeanor about him. This transfer is unlikely to happen, but if they’re going to sign Nico Williams and Dani Olmo together on paper that alone is very good, at the same time, Barcelona can’t ignore the biggest void that they have in their team and Kante is a perfect short term solution for the CDM role before they sign a long term one in 12-18 months time.
  • Fabrizio Romano said that Man City appreciates Dani Olmo but has no intentions of signing him
  • @bummer-jr1uh
Madrid needed a striker and got Mbappe. Barca needs a CDM and want Dani Olmo. Forget the fact that he isn't what barca needs. He's extremely injury prone.
